Just wondering if anyone has seen the Scorsese documentary Living in the Material World? The BBC broadcast the first part tonight and it documents George's life from a young man joining the band, through the various stages in his Beatle's career. There was a good 10 minute slot about how he found Lucy and why he stopped taking it. He talks quite vaguely about individual trips but some of the stuff he says is beautiful and it was cool when he referred to Paul's description of the substance, "Controlled weirdness". I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

Sounds interesting. I can't watch it (don't have a tv) but I would be interested to know what he says about why he stopped taking it. Anyone?

He was taking it to find himself and learn about spirituality and if there is a 'greater being'. He spent some time in India and eventually came to realise that he didn't need or want to use chemicals anymore. There was some footage of him at a festival and he said he was quite shocked with the hippies and came to the conclusion that even though they were using this amazing substance, they were really just as bad as any other kind of addict.

I was interested to have recently heard in a John Lennon interview that Paul was actually not into the LSD scene as much as John and George were. You can see the enlightenment found in George's work, it really seemed to push his interests with India, the sitar, and even lyrics. Within you without you and blue jay way are incredible pieces of work from him!
