I have a forest behind my house and me and my friend look all the time but dont know how to look for em in this particular area we know the basics of mushy hunting but has anyone else had success in NW Ohio finding magical mushies and not those damn tree musrooms??????????
Blue Foots, Pan Sub's, Laughing Gyms.. Others will be more rare.. Cubensis in cow fields .. the season just opened here in PA its been a no go. The mycelia is just getting the right temps now, 80+ you need and rain rain..
If you don't know what you're looking for when picking mushrooms you're going to poison yourself. Learn to grow them yourself, it's cheap, relatively easy and easy to hide.
There is no adventure in growing them yourself.. youre missing out the best part of mycology "the WTF is this?" part.. ..
there are better way to grow, In fact almost all the work is done for you. No pressure cooking, no measuring rice and Verm... GRAIN BAGs.. WBS, and Liquid culture.. ect.. you master LC you will never buy another spore ..
Pan Subs or maybe Laughing Gyms are your best bet, don't think cubes can grow wild in the Ohio climate, especially up north. you are not very likely to find Blue Foots, either. you are best off growing cubes up in NW Ohio. I have found Pan Subs in SW Ohio a few times however. do a lot of research first and if you think you found something, take a spore print and some pics and try getting it ID'ed at the shroomery.
yeah, when i lived up there i was offered shrooms almost daily it seemed like. toledo people like their drugs.
it may be best to cultivate your own medicines. wise man once say : "There are old mushroom hunters and there are bold mushroom hunters, but there are no old, bold mushroom hunters"
