What's Your Number? Movie Blurb by Shale October 1, 2011 This was a cute, formulaic, romantic comedy - just the standard feel-good kinda movie for escapism. It helps that there was a cute comedic leading lady, Anna Faris and a gorgeous leading man, Chris Evans and the two played off each other so well. Our story begins with Ally (Faris) being fired from her marketing job and on the way home is looking at one of those women's mags, you know the kind that has all those surveys and statistical studies. One study says the average number of different sex partners for a woman is 10, which Ally thinks is rather low in her experience. At home she starts listing all the different guys she slept with and comes up with a number of 19, which doubling the norm freaks her out. (By the time I was her age, my number was 40, but I'm a guy and it was the free luv days). Speaking of free luv, her neighbor Colin (Evans) across the hall is a player, who happens to pick up his morning paper in the hall without getting dressed. Oh, at this point be warned that this is an R-rated romcom and you will see more of Chris Evans than in the usual movie (everything that a dish towel won't cover). Ally is put off by this exploitation of women by this obvious irresistible hunk, only because she has vowed to make guy number 20 her life partner and Colin is not even in the running for more than a one night stand. However, she finds out that Colin is good at searching ppl on the Net and asks him to help her locate all her 19 casual lovers to see if one of them had been her intended. Ally gives Colin her list In exchange Colin gets to duck into her place and hide from his current casual lovers so that they will leave his place without further commitment. Ally & Colin Searching Well, this is a romcom - you know what eventually happens with Colin & Ally in their quest to find and connect with all of her former lovers. Turns out the free spirited young man wants to find just such a free spirited young woman and he is drawn to her. Ally is involved in the subplot of her younger sister getting married and her pretentious mother pushing her to settle with some man of status. Colin tries to encourage her spontaneous, creative nature, which she has not explored. He too has neglected fully exploring his music. Well, no need to tell you how this flick ends (you know the formula). It was light and fun as these two obviously compatible ppl find each other. Just a parting pic of one scene where two spontaneous ppl dare each other to jump in the Bay.
