I'm getting my wisdom teeth remove on Monday . I was expecting the dentist to be doing this but he said I have to go to a surgeon. The only thing that pops out my head when I hear Surgeon is pain. Has anyone had their wisdom teeth pulled out? How long is the recovery Not to mention I'm having my tonsil taken out next month also.
yea theyll knock you out and youll wake up an hour later. youll get vicodin or something. be sore for a few days. maybe a little puffy
I think it depends on how far they have to go in to get them. If they are mostly out of the gum, its easier to pull them. if they have to cut into them, just be prepared for blood....or atleast thats what happened to me. The experience for me was awful. I woke up finally in my bed, I dont remember the car ride home, my whole mouth was numb and it was extremely hard to get the blood out of my mouth. I was all dizzy from the drugs and I just wanted to throw up. after the first 4 hours I was gravy, but before that I was in hell.
dentist really dont pull teeth like that.. dentist clean and care for your teeth, do fillings and minor extractions. oral surgeons do the other..
Ive not had mine removed but I will say that everything I ever worried about in life ended up being not as bad as I expected.. edit..except for that one fitness test a while back..that was worse than i expected..i think i actually died that day
Had One tooth Pulled Last summer... Dentist do not pull teeth as was mentioned so its normal to have to goto an oral surgeon ... As for the tooth pulling the only thing you feel a little bit is the needle and after that its all numb. You will get a few stings with that, which is not to bad actually then it will be to numb to feel the others, you will sit for a bit to let sink it.. Once that is done in a few minutes he will pull it and you will not feel any pain at all actually. If infact when he goes to pull it a bit and you feel pain, say something and that will be fixed with more shots... The only bad part on it all is the gauss in your mouth afterwards to put up with .. and eating ... Nothing solid or hard to eat for at least 24-48 hrs and just small stuff after that, you want the blood clot to harden and not get removed. And no drinking from strawls
THat must be an interesting job Shots? Needle shots? They are not suppose to give you that, not for surgery, only like if you getting a root canal, which I had before. They are suppose to put you to sleep.
I went to the oral surgeon myself got 13th teeth removed don't remember a thing expect for the shot they gave me
Yeah i was put asleep nah all i remember was the needle they game me i don't even remember waking up or coming home
Oh boy... I wonder How im going to get home, I have to go to another city to get it done and take the train back home. I hope I don't pass out on the train.
i got all four of mine out last spring. i was not put to sleep. i had laughing gas. laughing gas is actually a better option because being put to sleep, you will spend the whole rest of the day recovering from that, and it causes nausea. the laughing gas works great. i was laughing my ass off when they were giving me the numbing shots. yes, they gave me shots to numb me up, but they didn't hurt at all really. some people recover extremely quickly, some people have a hell of a time recovering. i was somewhere in the middle. the slow bleeding lasted for about 4 days. i had to take pain meds for a week, maybe two weeks. it sucks, but in hindsight it's really not bad. you'll do alright.
Much of that depends on if the wisdom teeth are impacted or visible. If impacted they do knock you out...... I would explain the rest of the procedure but it's not for the squeamish. If the teeth are visible then it's just like "pulling teeth".....
none of mine were impacted. my top ones had come in all the way and they just pulled them right out. the bottom ones were only barely out of the gum and they had to cut in there to get them. that laughing gas is nice, and about two minutes after they take it off, you're right back to normal.
My wisdom teeth extraction didn't bother me at all. I didn't even sleep afterwards; I called my best friend and told her to come over and share my demerol lol. The demerol helped a lot.... I didn't even get puffy or bruised at all. I don't think they can release you after the surgery unless someone is there to take you home. They might make you hang out for a few hours afterwards if no one can come with you.

They are suppose to put you to sleep.[/QUOTE] Have only ever had two teeth pulled, was never put to sleep before .. Just Shots to numb the area ... With the area completely numbed all you will really feel is the pressure used for pulling it, no pain what so ever ... The one Tooth had stitches put in afterwards to better seal up the gum area. You do not feel anything from the stitching at all. It is not as bad as you can think about ... Before my first one i dreaded it ... but after that its really nothing.
