Not good news..... not good at all. Media and politics are going to eat this up and fuel the hate.

R.I.P. to those fallen, be they Occupy members or not.

I helps me some to think that the homeless people had been able to eat, found shelter, and were surrounded by a loving community when they passed.

The homeless die every day on our city streets but it’s generally not reported; only because their associated with the occupy movement is the plight of the homeless brought into the light of day.:(

And now their death is a sacrificial opportunity for the explanation that the world will be willed. New Orleans and Katrina can be resequenced for the priority of saving the planet from life becoming a satisfaction for the other grateful dead, the members of the one percent like the Al-qaeda.

Yes, the media narrative needs to change to:
"this is the plight of homeless people across America, who die alone in the streets because nobody cares..."

from "these no good protesters are dangerous, see!"

Tell that to the corporate ownership... though it's pretty plain that they aren't all that interested in facts beyond using small factoids to create a big lie... get us to lie to ourselves..

Saw a Faux news video dealing with this.... made me sick. Not to trivialize Oakland's gang problems but shootings happen frequently and would never hit national news. BUT, because this one happened "near" the Occupy Camp it was caused by the movement..... Wait! What?

    Occupy Burlington Suicide I.D.'d

The man who shot himself at an Occupy protest camp in downtown Burlington, Vermont, this week was 35 years old, homeless and had briefly trained to be in the Army, police said on Friday.

Joshua Pfenning apparently shot himself in the head inside a tent at the encampment in City Hall Park on Thursday afternoon and later died at a city hospital, Burlington Police Chief Michael Schirling said in a statement.

After the shooting, police banned camping at the park because of safety concerns.

Police have stopped short of calling Pfenning's death suicide, but have said witnesses indicated the shooting was self-inflicted. Three people were in the tent with Pfenning at the time of the shooting.

Schirling said a preliminary investigation found Pfenning had consumed a large quantity of alcohol before the shooting and at some point just before the fatal shot had pointed a gun and threatened another person inside the tent.

The gun, which had been stolen two years ago, was found at the scene and taken into police custody.

Citing press reports that Pfenning was a military veteran, Schirling said the man previously had been discharged from the Army after two weeks of boot camp "for medical and other reasons."

19 Year Old from Occupy Austin dies in car accident, while two other Occupy Austin members who were passengers in the car are critically injured.

A single-car accident on Lakeline Boulevard early Friday morning killed one person in the car and sent two others to the hospital. Last night, Occupy Austin revealed the three were active members in the demonstration outside of Austin’s City Hall.
Their car was heading east on Lakeline Boulevard when the driver lost control and hit a tree.

Friday night, Occupy Austin held a vigil for the three victims and their families. Protesters displayed signs and lit candles to pay tribute to the victims and their families.

“We have our prayers, meditations and wishes and all the different beliefs that are covered down here,” protestor Brian Overman said. “All the positive energy we have is with those folks and those families tonight."

Authorities have not released the conditions of the two transported to the hospital, but Occupy Austin said they are both in critical condition (in comas).

Their names have not yet been released pending notification of family.

    Occupy UNT Denton

    Dec 04

Occupy Denton mourns the loss of a fellow occupier, a kind and idealistic young man and a friend. Darwin Cox (23) passed away. He was found in a tent on the Occupy Denton camp where he had been given shelter after a fellow occupier saw him suffering from a fever. Darwin’s lifelong struggle with drug addiction is suspected to have played a role in this tragedy. While drug use or possession is strictly against Occupy Denton’s policy, it was the Occupy Denton camp where he found friendship, respect, and compassion for his warm, caring, and generous character. Occupy Denton will dearly miss him, and forever appreciate the fortune of having shared a space and time with our friend, Darwin Cox. We give our deepest condolences to his family.

One of Occupy Denton’s core issues is the struggle against homelessness. Specifically, the lack of a safety net and inclusive shelters for the homeless left Darwin with nowhere else to go. Tragedies like this happen every day and fail to make the nightly news or the newspapers. Our current social structure criminalizes the homeless as well as those suffering from addiction. This is one of the reasons why Occupy Denton emerged, why Darwin joined, and why Occupy Denton will continue the struggle for the marginalized and oppressed.

Occupy Denton will observe a vigil on Monday, December 5th at 7 P.M. on the lawn between the Physics and Art buildings at the UNT campus. The vigil will mourn his loss and commemorate his life. A deep sense of connection and family has emerged among the occupiers. Darwin’s loss has deeply shaken us. Our love and resolve will continue with Darwin in our hearts.

    Solidarity,
    Occupy Denton
