    Woody Allen`s "Midnight in Paris"

After almost leaving the theater in the initial minutes of the movie due to my hatred of sharing space with chatty families and couples, I was able to stick through Woody Allen`s Midnight In Paris.

Laughed quite a bit, and enjoyed the movie`s twists and turns. Especially Adriana and Gil`s trip to the Belle Epoch, and Gauguin`s remark about how The Renaissance was truly the Golden Age. LOL!

I would like to have seen Gil`s insight about the present "always being a little unsatisfactory" extended to place. So that, even Paris can be "a little unsatisfactory" once you stay in it for a while.

I would also continue a loose thread in the movie that began when Gil and Adriana took a walk in 1920s Paris among the whores, and Adriana asked if he was taken by any of them, "All of them, to be honest. I love vulgar women. I guess that makes me superficial." Later on, the same idea recurred when Gil asks the Rodin tour guide girl, if she thought "A man can love two women at the same time" like Rodin did.

At the end, instead of a "The One" love story with the moral that sophisticated women are preferable to vulgar women, I would have Gil go back to Malibu and Inez, and live in both Paris and California back and forth, as well as love both Inez and the Cole Porter flea market Parisian girl. Along with finding inspiration from many epochs for this writing.

Many places, many epochs, many women...both vulgar and sophisticated.

And then, I would have him contract an STD (or two) in the original script; though, that part I would leave out of the movie due to box-office concerns... ;)
