(Something I wrote on my blog...just decided to repost here)

I’ve started smoking marijuana again. I cannot even begin to explain the deep, and profound happiness that is added into my life when I bring marijuana back into my life. I am not saying that cannabis is responsible for my happiness, no. Definitely not. I am responsible for my happiness. I am just saying that cannabis is a great gift that is an expansion of that deep spiritual happiness, contentment and fulfillment that I feel at any given moment.
Everyone has reasons for smoking. Everyones reasons are different. I am, by nature, an incredibly spiritual person. Much moreso than your average individual. Religion is not for me, organized religion is for the birds. But SPIRITUALITY…that amazing relationship between you, your being, and divinity…that relationship defines me. it IS me, and who I am. Without it, I feel an emptiness.

There are many things that I feel add to the divinity in my life. Music is a huge one…and marijuana being a close second. In the Bible, it says that God spoke us into being. That, to me, signifies the sheer spiritual power of the word, the voice, the vibration. Sound. Sound is divine and Godly. Music is the divine reverberation, the divine culmination of one persons, or a group of peoples combined creative energy put into action. That IS God, to me. Those notes, those individual sounds come together to form the fabric that is the mass consciousness of our vast, vast universe and by listening, by meditating on those notes and by taking those notes and those sounds and making them a part of our own lives, those vibrations reverberate within our lives, our pasts…all of that energy combines and forms something so special…so…so special, and so divine.

Marijuana is another spiritual tool. Our universe is filled with endless beauty. It is a sacrificial herb..sacrificing itself so that we, the partaker of the sacrament, can unify with our God, our divinity…ourselves.

Up until recently I felt like I was losing myself spiritually and a depression was setting in…not an all around depression but a spiritual one. The worst kind, to me, is a spiritual depression in which you no longer feel the touch of God within your own life. So, I ran home..to Shiva. To Kali. To my beloved Ganesha, and they took me in their arms as if I had never left. I celebrated Diwali, and I meditated upon the light in my life, the light that will illuminate me and I do. I meditated upon the fact that only I can keep that light burning…and only I can put it out. The first night of Diwali I made a pact with myself, and my God…that I will be illuminated. That I need the help of the universe. That I will take the help of the universe when it is offered. That I will focus on everything positive that has happened to me, how good has continuously conquered the evil in my life…I promised to never lose sight of that.

A few days later I started smoking again. Smoking is so spiritual to me. It can be a lot of fun with friends and everything as well but I love to use it…as that sacrificial herb that grew from the ground, that drank from the bosom of our Earth…that gives itself so that we, too, may drink from the bosom of our Universe…….that is what marijuana is to me.

If God didn't want us to get high, he wouldn't fill nature with thousands of psychoactive plants and marijuana! I love your spiritual take to marijuana, I was under the impression I was one of the only people who thought of marijuana as something like that. I see it as a creative tool, a form of relaxation. To me LSD is more important spiritually. But different strokes for different folks. I still see value in marijuana, and sometimes you must want a couple of hours or less to relax.

I really wish the world could be more open minded about it. With moderation marijuana can be the best thing to do with your life. I mean the best tool to get you where you want. I feel a legalization will bring this back into perspective. Most people do it for the idea of getting wasted and breaking the law. But very few people smoke ciggarettes like crazy. And where mj is legal, it is used in moderation, so it is time to quit all the propaganda and let the world smoke freely, and open their minds to their inner selfs and the world around them. People have smoked marijuana are the most mature people I know.

Great to hear your ideals behind marijuana! Nice post

Great post! What you said regarding music really resonated with me. I no longer smoke maijuana but I certainly hold it in positive regard and the past couple weeks I've seen several posts depreciating the value of entheogens, so it's great to see someone truly reaping the benefits of the amazing psychedelic plants/chemicals that are out there.

Thanks for the responses, guys! Lotus, I agree with everything you said regarding legalization/decriminalization. The ONLY problem with cannabis is its legality. Period.
