that's like.. 4 months? looks like you be crocheting. Not that I'm hating or anything; I'm not one of those neglect snobs. But did you honestly not do ANYTHING to your hair?
I'd wager she hasn't been. This is very neglect: it locks up fast, but you have tips and things between that hardly hold together, and may take a while longer. Give it 8-10 months and it should all be locked up pretty good. And yes, blunt ends happen fast with neglect, locks zig-zag and pull back on themselves many times over, with many hair types. OP, the next step is to stop ripping so much... I could be wrong, but it looks like you have been a lot. Don't let it become a habit, don't do it more than every few weeks. Daily ripping only raises more ends that want to lock back up, and requires MORE ripping, and causes lots of damage and thinner roots than tips. Besides, congos are awesome. I can't wait for my hair to get like 10 inches, so I can start.
Roor: Oh agreed, congos are awesome. The only ripping I really did was in the beginning, actually. I can't even remember the last rip I did. But that might not be saying much, my sense of time's terrible. it's been at least amonth or two, though. Wintaa: naw, I looked up crocheting (cuz it sounded so weird) and once I realized what it entailed, I shuddered. no maintenence here, except like I said the few rips in the beginning, also once I went and cut off a few scraggely ends. but that's it!

I realize it's a novel idea to most people, with how the norm is GETTING dreads, not LETTING dreads.... But it happens just as well on it's own, if not better..... Keep in mind the whole "fall out and re-form, don't worry, just how it HAS to go" crap in regards to making locks with various methods.
eh, I wasn't dissing. I truly thought it was interesting. I've never seen hair lock that fast plus blunted tips, so that's pretty cool to me.
^Yeah, I was actually pretty surprised at how fast my hair has been locking; like I said, I lurked this forum for a while so I'd expected a lot longer of the birds-nest phase. Everyone's hair is different, I suppose!
