So, I'm weighing my long-term birth control options, and I'm thinking about going with Implanon. I'm engaged, so STDs are not a concern, and we're pretty much over condoms. It would be fairly inconvenient--tho not absolutely devastating--if I got pregnant right now. I was on the pill from ages 17-21, and never had any issues, tho I wasn't taking it for bc at the time (it was for bad periods). I've heard really bad things about the shot, so that ones out. I've considered the ring, but my vag is pretty finicky--like I can barely wear tampons--and I don't like the idea of something up there for that long. Plus my memory is even worse if you ask me to remember to do something once a week instead of once a day. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with the implant. I've heard from some people that it took a while to get pregnant after it was removed. I do want kids one day, so that would be something for me to think about. Any terrible side effects? If so, was this only on implanon, or did you have issues with the pill too? Thanks, Kate
I had the implant... and personaly it disageed with me hugely!! If youv had no problems with the pill you may be fine, as Iv had problems with that too..Everything seems to disagree with m lol. But the implant turned me into a horrible person. If I wasnt over reacting with every little thing then I was breaking down in tears. Wheras im normally very level headed and happy. It took me about 3 months after having it taken out for my hormones to balance out again. Also...What I found out whilst having it taken out was that it hadnt actualy been put in correctly. If youv never had any problems with the pill... then personally I would advise that you stick to the method that already works.
