Gotta make a new thread, the last one is from 5 years ago.

I love Weezer, and think Rivers Cuomo is a brilliant song writer. A lot of people think he's a sell-out, but hey...I think they're still pretty cutting edge and can write some good music. What do you think?

I dig the Blue album like everyone else, but also the Green, Maladroit, Red and Pinkerton...

I don't like their latest album but I like most everything else. Funny thing is, my youngest daughter fell in love with Weezer when she was 5. She loved Pork and Beans. :D So I've been accumulating the albums for her. She's now 8.

some of their material is great

however, some of their more recent stuff is rife with brand name product placements

    can't stand it

Weezer was once a really great band. They have evolved a lot and sadly, not well. In my opinion they haven't been good since the green album. With that said, the first three Weezer albums were genius.

The blue album is full of geek. Rivers was rocking a bowl cut and baggy jeans! All the songs were basically power pop. It was very refreshing.

Pinkerton is by far one of my favorite records. Sadly, it was not appreciated until a few years later( I blame Pitchfork). The writing of Rivers had evolved and had gotten way heavier.

The green album was also another great album. It had sweeter melodies and cooler guitar riffs. It almost was a mix of the first two albums. It had a good amount of a power pop and heavy sound to it.

After that Weezer has deteriorated in my opinion. They had a good run despite how old they are. They were on the charts when Nirvana was! Still, they will remain in my heart forever =W=
