Here's the situation Have a laptop screen died no display, but will connect to a monitor and was ok. Also the key board back light was messed to. now guys at the shop say the keyboard light thing could be a mother board thing as he tried over riding it in BIOS and in BIOS it said it was on So heres where I'm at Parts and labour to fix it $ 500 Or $ 777 on a new one What would you do
Depends on what kind of money you're made of. The extra 277 might hurt someone more than somebody else. The answer is relative to your economic factors, and your priorities. See how I know how to not answer the question?
David Bowie labyrinth twas an excellent movie. But on topic lol I know it's up to me and shit but argh
If it were me, I'd just buy a new one. How old is the one you currently have? If it's old and having problems, it may be time for an upgrade.
Well after a coffee a chat with the other half it's a new laptop. So monday I go get a new toy, kinda happy new laptop and that. But also pissed about the toshiba
go get a wireless keyboard/mouse for 30 bucks and a vga/hdmi/ dvi whatever u got on i and hook it up to ur tv
Death I have thought about that way but not everyone in my house wanted to watch days of our lives our watch me play COD lol And extended warranty this time
500 bucks is retarded. I bought our laptop second hand for around $160, does everything we need. Your service place can't find a 3v source for a few LED's? Typical hardware swappers, just interested in selling you new guts at premium price. Sounds like maybe the screen back light is just shot, fairly easy and cheap fix for most. You can tell if the LCD is still working by holding a LED flashlight right up to it, you should be able to make out some images on the display unless it is totally dead/cracked. I've replaced high voltage CCFL back lighting on a couple old laptops with LED strips. Not quite as bright but they don't use nearly as much power either. Possibly your laptop already has LED screen lighting and just needs a power source fix. I'd charge well under $100 for such a repair job.
The screen is dead no back light issue our any of that. And these prices are aus. too. And the 500 was me sourcing the parts of ebay and then paying for them to re build it . When I called toshiba the lcd was 400 of them so my guys were trying to do the best. And yes 160 might get a new one 2nd hand but I need a gaming laptop with a dedicated graphics card. I want to play COD and diablo 3 type thing.
google the model and problem description....it usually comes up with similar people having the same problems...then read what they did to fix it and fix it yourself good used lcd screens..motherboards etc are cheap on ebay and computers are easy to fix ..just be extra careful remembering which screw went where...some are longer and youll damagae stuff if you put the wrong screww in
