So my dreads are almost a month old now (backcombing method)... loving them, one question - they are quite skinny, if i want them to be thicker, should i just wait and let time do its thang, or should i do something to thicken them up with a crochet needle or something like that? will time make them thicker naturally, is my question i guess. most pictures i see people have nice ropes - just curious as to how most acheive this.
    thanks for your help :)

If you want them a certain way you'll have to step in. I've probably joined dreads up 4 or 5 times now, I used a crochet needle to pull them together from the bottom up. And I swear to god you could never tell that they were ever two smaller dreads

If they are only a month, i would give them some time first. They might thicken up a bit. If you used a crochet needle to make them they will thicken a lot.

At least that is what mine are doing.

As they tighten they might shrink, just becoming less poofy, but over time as more hair accumulates in them they can grow

as far as mine went, i let them do their thing and they got really loopy which in time made them really thick and shrink up

if they're only a month old all you would have to NOT do is seprarate the ones that you want to congo.

    fuck crochet hooks.

You have the exact opposite problem that i do, I congoed almost my whole head... which ultimately left me with around 20 dreads.. you should keep the skinny ones because its so much less frustrating when your roots are all over the place.. BUt, if that didn't convince you find a good section of your dreads and palm roll it up! use crochet hooks if your dreads aren't mature enough.
