I just got an 8 month old blue-barred ambilobe panther chameleon yesterday.
He is the freaking best. His colours have not come in fully yet, but I can expect them to within 6 months.
Even now he is beautiful looking.

I just need a name, any suggestions?
I will post pictures soon, letting him settle in a bit before putting a camera in his face.

They are very delicate lizards, more so that any other lizards Ive been told.. Do follow the best care guide given for them..

some practical things, like washing your hands before you handing it and touching its food, dont breath on it, or blow your air or smoke in its direction. keep it out of areas of high smoke like you would birds. Feed it properly - dont give it bugs you find..
warm places, dont let it escape in the cold weather or get a draft..

keep away from cats and handguns. :)

I do have a cat, but she's far to old and decrepit to jump up to where the terrarium is. And I do wash my hands before doing anything to do with the chameleon, and after to protect myself.
I don't smoke, so that shouldn't be a problem. Will be fun to watch when im trippin though.
At this point I just feed him crickets.
Also handling chameleons in general is seen as bad practice, they never fully get used to human interaction apparently. If you can't control yourself, I guess they say to limit your contact to 2-3 times a week.

Chameleons can be grouchy little bastards,

No reptile understands why you want to touch it, some just tolerate it better then others. I always thought crested geckos would make a good stoner pet. Allot of pretty colors but you pay out the ass for them. Some of them are 100's of dollars.
