I've heard that this time of the year is too cold for shrooms to grow. Is this true? And is there a site that will tell you if any poisinous ones grow near me so I know if I go hunting. I've never gone, and I've been wanting to for a while now. I heard just look for the ones growing on top of cow pattys with a purple ring. Edit: Also, do you think that LSD would be safer than shrooms. "Most species of Psilocybe are considered to be LBM's (little brown mushrooms) and have thousands of look-alikes (to the beginner). Eat one wrong mushroom and, up to 2 weeks later symptoms develop, and the only chance of saving your life is a liver- or kidney-transplant." P. Cubensis can be found almost year round in the south/southeastern US. . . Go to www.erowid.org and look up their mushroom info, they have identifying guides. If you know what they look like, it's kinda hard to get something different. . .do be aware of a. virosa though, it can look a little similar to p.cubensis, though the gills are always white on a.virosa(never brown/blueish like cubies)
"P. Cubensis can be found almost year round in the south/southeastern US. . ." Good luck with that! You'll find a stray one here and there in florida, but that's all and they're rare. April showers bring may mushrooms... Where in Fla are you, magicmeds?
Just you wait- By june, you'll easily find and harvest them by the lb. I've still got a couple of dry OZ in the freezer. I'm about a hundred miles southwest near charlotte harbor. When it warms up, c'mon down for a pickin'.
