I would love to describe to you my hippy times seduction. What it was like to be a kid growing up in the 1960s when it was all coming to fruit.
I was going on 11 when 1966 came and my birthday's on August---so go figure, lol
So earlier I was into the Beatles, and even got a Beatles jacket. EVERYONE was into them--hence reason they all became billionaires. I also loved Tamla Mowtown and LOVED dancing
I also had a magical sense of nature. When most kids started reading Janet and John books (realist children adventure books), I was still on fairy books.
So, my young ears were become curiously interested when weird hippy like music started to swirl from the speaker of my little tranny (transistor radio--Google it:)) or my Bush radio.
The Beatles went 'weird' when I was going on 13 with their Magical Mystery Tour album. So I was being seduced into this dimension, as I am sure lots of kids were.
There was this VERY VER Y VERY stark demarcation between the straight world, of short back and sides, stiff postures, funny accents, and the real cool world that started appearing on our little black and white TV screens of long haired, loose, cool people with flowers in their hair on guitars--THIS was MADE for me...But, even so, as I passed about 9-10 years old, I was becoming harder, getting a sadistic streak, had lost magical sense of nature, and threw litter at it (sure sign of disrespect!), had stopped reading fairy books and was now reading Pan Horror books, and books about serial killers like the Boston Strangler, swore a LOT, and had this mad obsession with my image of the 'big city'. I just loved the idea of crowds, cars, flyovers, skyscrapers, neon, nightlife. I heard this story that in NYC if someone falls over people would just walk over them, and that excited me!
When I found I could move to London when I was 15 I was over the moon--it was the BIG CITY. And to cut a long story short, I got a job working on a stall right in the heart of the city, in Piccadilly Circus. I was one day leaning over the railings by the curve of the road where all of the traffic of the 'world' comes and breathing it in....:( And felt a tap on the shoulder (I often have visions of being him coming to me from behind). It was one of the hippies (they were called Heads then) in an adjoining stall. he invited me to a party, and I gladly accepted.
So I am going to this party with 3 hippies and a girl who fancied me, and on the way one offered me this half of a tiny tiny blue pill on a little bit of tin foil. I was naive and assumed it was speed. I popped it on my tongue. Could hardly feel it, and then we got to the party and sit on a couch.......it was L S D, and when the trip began this was the beginning of an amazing journey, where all the magic of nature I had lost in those 'shitty school years' returned, and I saw through my image of the big city IN the big city, and I now was well and truly hippified :)
