Hey so I'm an insomniac, I've had trouble sleeping for well at least 4 years on my count. And I remember after the first time I tried pot, I was surprised to see that night I fell asleep at 10:30 pm, WAY earlier than I'm use to, and I slept on a good schedule for a couple of days afterwards. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not. So I looked up and saw MJ can help insomnia. Is there a chance I could get a prescription for that? If so what type of buds would be good?
Yes, it does that. f you're 18, depending on where you are, you might be able to get a reccomendation. If you just smoke and it's sedating enough that you don't have to before bed(quite likely) any type you want. Otherwise probably a heavy indica. Ask at the dispensary, they'll know their stuff and what you need better than the internet, obviously.
It used to help me with insomnia when I first started smoking 15 years ago. Now it doesn't really seem to help much.
Its 2 am over here- - I feel your pain- However, Im semi-retired and do not have to be at a school or a job in 6 hours anymore, so a valium a little late night TV- and maybe Ill dose off- maybe not- Try to go to crash later than usual- and try to be very active during the day- -It should help you sleep for a longer amount of time- and at the very least >wake up later Good luck- not being able to sleep thru the night really sucks jack Also- as was mentioned, these days I understand the correct bud will fix that problem
I've had insomnia since I was a teenager - and I don't feel like doing the math to tell you how many years that is. (lol) I LOVE weed...at this point in time it doesn't necessarily MAKE me go to sleep...but if I don't have any - I sleep about 3 winks every 48 hours. I am not a pretty girl when I am like that! But...it definitely can help (to some degree) if you have insomnia, and it surely won't hurt.
Also, try valerian root, chamomile, etc. If you wanna be down and out, 900mg valerian root, 2-3 teabags of chamomile all steeped together for like 15 minutes, one tylenol PM, and you'll be out like a light. Also, I've tried smoking catnip, because I'm on tests now. It can be a pretty heavy sedative, but it's interesting, it just makes you tired..... for days. Even getting enough sleep and then some, I'll be tired all day like 4 days after. Smoke it on it's own for a tired effect all the time and easy time sleeping, or with the above combo to REALLY be on your ass and sleep like 14 hours. Note that I'm not vouching for the safety of that. I don't know how hard on your liver/kidneys chamomile (or catnip) is, and what the effects of a heafty dose of it alone are, much less mixed with other things that are also filtered there and where intake is limited by their potential organ damage.
That is all very, very interesting, Roo. I've tried Valerian root...and it does work somewhat for me if I don't take it every night...like I may take it for 5 nights and then skip 3 nights. Also, it smells like a dirty woman's panties and I cannot imagine how awful the tea would smell or taste. Chamomile is good, but for me, is only a little calming. Another thing to try is melotonin. I have done a little study on these, and none of them are reported to have bad side effects on the kidneys, but then - as you said - I don't think what I read would have included studies with people combo dosing. (that's what I call it) Because I will also sometimes add in 2 Tylenol pms. Out of all of that the Tylenol is probably going to be the worse on my kidneys. Does all this work, one may ask? Well, it's 2:27 am, and I'm up. :sunny:
Yeah if you wanna try the natual way, and go with something like melatonin supplements- - They can be had without a prescription at health food stores, drugstores, and online. -. It should cause drowiness, and without the side effects of the drugs that BigPharma reccommends-
