Okay I was wrong .I should have done more reading and asking questions before saying that. But still one last question here why is the media so bias and way more bias now?
The conservatives are bought and paid for by big business. Pharma's are included in that. As one example... At this very moment, if you get a prescription for weed here, you can get authorization to possess and grow legally for yourself. The conservatives, knowing they can't just outright scrap the medical marijuana issue now, are going to push for the license to grow to be removed, forcing people to go to central grow ops that are licensed by the government. In otherwords, it will be the same as the tobacco industry combined with the pharma. That is part of what will get challenged up to the supreme court... What happens totally depends on the make up of the judges when it gets there, which if the government can delay them, will be shifted to the right by the choice of justices that harper (the conservatives) makes and they will support it.
I think it comes down to Politics -(whichever Country one resides) If it's what the 'People' want then it seems to be expensive, repealed or indeed outlawed
I dont think there is hope for legalization here until Stephen Harper is out of the picture. The conservatives are all in bed with the corporations (So, definately Pharmaceutical Companies) and being right wing rednecks, they won't let this happen. Marijuana legislation should be under a Municipal level, Where each municipality can vote in referendums as to whether it should be Legalized. If Politicians cared about people and democracy as much as they did money, we would already be voting on the new marijuana laws. Since Marc Emery was arrested, i think there has been a lack of organisation.. But with occupy worldwide taking place, i think theyre will be a resurgence.
On the plus side, we have the Liberals who have just had an internal vote, and something like 75% of their party is in favour of legalizing cannabis. And hopefully when the next election rolls around, some of the people who voted conservative would realize what an awful idea that was (crime bills, dropping of environmental standards) and maybe we can get a good party in, be it the Liberals or the NDP.
