There's a lot of political disconnect...

between people on the streets and at the remaining jobs in this country and what is portrayed as being the normal state of affairs in the media.

We still show ourselves as being majority middle class, but it's becoming obvious to everyone that true middle class is now the minority.

Compared to the gluttonous 1980s and 1990s, we now live in an age of austerity where suburban houses are getting older and more weathered, the things we have sitting around are older and generally more worn out, etc.. while only a small section of the upper-middle class, usually with the help of serious credit, is still getting to add modern amenities to their lives to the extent a lot of people were in years past.

Some people are still doing quite well, but significantly more of the people who do well are benefiting off the people in a way that is often times vulture-like. This practice has become common in the 'new' economy.

We're a lot like the USSR in the second-half of the 1980s. Where as they were dealing with an economic stagnation trapping them in the 1960s-70s, we are presently dealing with our own response to a stagnation which has really hit us hard after the "lost decade" of the 2000s.

I don't see the right-wing as disconnected. Their plans are working quite well. They have most of the money,the supreme court,the House and probably the presidency come November. The disconnect(I know what you meant) is with the poor and middle classes to allow the BS that has been and is continuing to go on. American Spring anybody?
