GM food apparently causes weird health problems in rats by mechanism of who knows what. It's not a concern anyone should have to live with on a daily basis. http://www.responsibletechnology.org/blog/1340 Yet the FDA and USDA pretend like nothing is wrong with genetically-modified food, and they're even trying to make non-GMO labeling illegal. http://www.mediafreedominternational.org/2011/04/09/us-agencies-trying-to-outlaw-gmo-food-labeling/ http://www.naturalnews.com/028716_GMOs_food_labels.html So if you wanted to buy soy beans, soy milk, tofu, or any soy derivative for example soybean oil, soy flour, soy protein, or soy lecithin (which is often added to foods as an emulsifier, to mix oil with water, solids, or other oils to make mayonnaise or chocolate stable, for example), it would be illegal for them to let you know that the product isn't from GMO and you'd have no idea what you're eating. You wouldn't even be safe if you avoided plant foods, cause it gets in cow milk as well (probably in meat and fat stores as well)...and human breast milk. http://www.naturalnews.com/032135_breast_milk_herbicides.html The FDA and USDA should promote required labeling of GMO foods, but they go and try to make the complete opposite happen. It's just more proof that the government's greed and lack of concern for human life isn't paranoia. It's everywhere, with the drug war, with GMO, with internet privacy, with harmful prescription drugs being approved and promoted. We can and should fight for freedom, we deserve more. If we don't, the government will underhandedly take your rights away while you're not keeping an eye on them, and then you'll have no chance to fight back. The site with the first article I mentioned, has a list of ways to promote natural, non-genetically modified food. http://www.responsibletechnology.org/take-action Even that isn't a complete list, be creative and be productive. You don't know how GMO would effect you if labeling as otherwise weren't allowed. That doesn't just include you. That includes your family, friends, and everyone else out there to meet. And that's exactly who you should tell GMO about, and why it's a big deal. They just didn't get a chance to hear the truth yet, let them hear it.
Chronic genetically modified food consumption also causes infertility in animals. http://www.naturalnews.com/036710_GMO_animal_experiments_infertility.html
The GOP wants us to think that government is the problem and corporations should be allowed to do what they want. But the government is owned by the corporations, as is clearly shown by the FDA and the USDA policies on GM labeling.
