I wondered if the spelling you used had special meaning since I saw you use it a few times and the rest of your spelling in English seemed to be pretty good. The English word often used to refer to Native Americans is Indian.

Ok. Im just trying to make sure you dont go out in the wild unprepared. It would be very horrible to be in the forest with no idea of what to eat and how to survive. You just saying you would watch the animals and eat what they eat made me think you really had no clue about living in the wild. I totaly think you are awesome. I dont want you to take what im saying its just out of concern.

I learned english last year. Some time I make mistakes and I do not know I am making them.

When english people say the word "indian" it sound like "indienne" to me. But there is no masculine and feminine for english. So indien for me.

In a forest the last thing you must have is food. A person can live for long time without food.

You first need warm and place to sleep where the rain and snow will not fall on your head.

I used to have no appreciation for the modern way of life and wanted to run away to the forest until I got a bad asthma attack while camping. If I wasn't able to leave and seek medical attention, I would have died.

Of course, excessively smoking cigarettes during the camping trip is what caused the asthma attack, and thats definitely a product of modern life.

Hippy chick, I wish I could step into your childhood for a day. It sounds awesome.

Your absolutely right. The thing is IME I have found it alot easier to construct a lean to or simple shelter then it is to source out food. Living in the wild 60% of your time is spent hunting/gathering to eat. If you build a proper shelter you only have to add to it or keep up the repair on it. Finding food is never ending

I believe that Hippy Chick has a working knowledge of living off the land. From her earlier posts stating Foraging for wild edibles, fishing, and knowing how to use arrows and throwing spears sounds pretty self sufficient to me if she really needed to be. Wish I knew how to use a bow and arrows or a throwing spear.

I totally missed this post. Hippy chick it seems like you know what your doing and were taught by the best. I just know what its like to live out in the wild. I have spent several summers in the wild taking care of plants. I spent many many hungry days and nights. I wouldnt wish that upon you nor anyone

I understand about being hungry while out and about. I spend as much time out in the "wild" (as wild as Ohio can be anyways) as I can, usually camping out along the rivers and such around here. I'm pretty knowledgeable about wild edibles for this part of the country. Just recently I've spent several days gathering black walnuts, and acorns. The walnuts were husked and are drying on screens and the acorns were cooked/washed to get the tannins out of them then roasted. I've set snares around the drying racks for my walnuts because squirrels were getting into them but have yet to catch any of them. I think they are some hybrid ninja Jedi squirrels. lol

Not a problem. Some people probably need to come to the understanding that no amount of planning will make everything okay. I wish it did. I lost 5 of my friends in 2010, all under 30 before their "set" future could start. I think the saddest thing was they were all planning a "good" future, and well, spent more time trying to get there than to do what honestly made them happy and alive.

all i'm saying is that if you get in an accident and you need to go to the hospital, who is going to pay your bill? will you give the doctors some wild grains and sew some clothes for him? or if your dog gets hurt? are you just going to let it die because the vet won't trade you services for a braided hippy belt or whatever? its a nice sentiment, but the real world doesn't work like that.

im not suggesting you 'give in to the man' and work a 9-5 job at starbucks or something, but it sounds like you'd rather be lazy and scrape by on the minimum than to work towards some sort of security in your life.

I think way too many people spend so much time trying to control their future they miss out on actually living and enjoying their lives. Spend so much time worrying about material items they miss out on the simple things that bring beauty and majesty to our world. It doesnt cost anything to lose yourself walking thru a forest. Plus the lessons you can learn from this can be quite life altering and changing

I do enjoy the idea of living simple. And I do believe it can work, too. But in order for it to be efficient I believe there has to be a community of people living that way. Otherwise, as people have said before, some bills are going to sneak up on you.

On another note, I much prefer the idea of being in-between. I want to work at NASA but at the same time do away with many unnecessary items. (Not including the things I love to do). So I'm opting to live a more complex life than the OP. Does that make me wrong?

Or are we simply stating to live the way that makes you happy?

    The message was, indeed, unclear.

It's people like you my generation should look up to, not Kim Kardashian or some other reality TV star. I envy you, man.

Wow I want that kinda lifestyle. Right now Im having a hard time just finding a place. But I know exactly how you feel as far as not wanting to work for someone. I have been self employed for over a year now doing what i can and have to to get by, it works but it has its ups and downs. Mostly I just wanna know where i can start meeting more like minded people and start living with others who share my same values.
