Is there a way we can tell our minds what to dream about right before we go to sleep? I've heard of lucid dreams, but I don't want to know that I'm dreaming.

I remember reading in an omni magazine about controlling your dreams. The example they give was to continue repeating "Tonight I will fly in my sleep and when I wake up I will remember my dreams" While doing this envision yourself flying. It worked for me many many years go. Hope this helps. It was the cover story of omni. Maybe you can search it out. The magazine was probably published in the 80's.

we can't force them, but there are tecniques for making sugestions that sometimes work. like most things, its more statistical then linear. but yes, we can to some extent influence which or what kinds of places with visit in the dream universe, and our own dream corners of it.

but you can't just make demands of your subconscience, all that does is keep you awake!

its all about meditation tecniques and how to focus them, things like that.

you turn OFF your inner dialog, and you fly to what your focused on, the way you teleport IN your dreams when you're already in them.

I have found over the years that I can control my dreams once I realize that I am dreaming...

What started it was when I would have nightmare and not be able to get away from the person who or thing that was chasing me.

I would always have weapons but they would never work...so the chase would just go on and on and on...

But one night I told myself before I went to bed that I was going to beat the "demon" who kept bothering me...And that night I did...but I realized one thing...

I now had the ability to control the dream....

It took awhile to get used to it...but now when I find myself being chased and can't beat it...I force myself awake to remove myself from that dream...

Or in many instances, if it's a good dream (sex, girl, flying, etc...) I've learned to continue it but be in control of what happens...

It used to be with Sex dreams, as a kid (growing up in a Christian home) I had no idea what a wet dream was...So when I would have them, I started forcing myself awake right before I had a wet dream...thus anytime sex would be involved in my dreams as an adult...I would wake up just before anything happened or something would interrupt me in my dream from doing it...

Now, being an adult...I have taught myself to enjoy those dreams and keep them going...

So in answer to your question...I do believe we can tell our minds what to dream about...even within the dream!

Taking control of one's dreams is like putting a restraint on subconscious freedom - difficult ....... but not impossible
It takes a lot of focus and trust in the relaxation of the mind

I've never had a dream where I could realize I was dreaming. Sometimes maybe a dream would be so absurd it would wake me up thinking WTF?

Some dreams seem to be related with things you were doing the previous day. Only things I can think of that affect dreams are pan, motion and sounds. Sometimes they work themselves into a dream without waking you up. I used to work on a large ship and if the ship was rocking while I was sleeping I'd sometimes have some crazy dreams about my body levitating up in the air.

If you don't masturbate or ejaculate for a long time you can make your dreams become very sexual, because your repressed subconscious sexual energy needs to find a release and and enters your dreams.
