UPDATE 9/28/2011: Facebook admits it tracks its users around the Internet!

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...acy-row-Social-network-giant-admits-bugs.html

If you have a Facebook account, when you logout, the website is still tracking where you go. Facebook places a cookie on your computer that tracks your online behavior long after you've left the site.

I have mentioned this before in other posts, and it's the main reason we don't have Facebook links on this site.

If you are a member of Facebook, YOU HAVE NO PRIVACY ON THE WEB!

BTW, I have seen stats (on another website) that indicate that around 6% of you come to the Hipforums directly after visiting Facebook. So even though we don't have a Facebook link, Facebook and other websites can track your activity from there to here...

You have no privacy on the web, facebook or no facebook. The web is, and always has been a public place!

Good thing I completely got rid of Facebook and every file/exe associated with it on my computer as well as my account online. It has been six months without Facebook and I'm loving it: no useless information from 'friends' you met once, no more drama between bickering idiots, more privacy in you web experience.

I'm always paranoid that Google would be doing it, but I guess now it's Facebook... Aren't they all in cahoots anyway?

No, they are very much in competition. They both make their money off selling ads and consumer statistical info. Shoot Google made their own social network to give the big F-U to facebook.

Both google and facebook totally have me wrapped around their fat fingers. It's the fact that I can't even buy a damn phone and use it without having a stupid gmail email adress. Screw smart phones anyway, I would much prefer to have a simple walmart phone. Too bad I didn't know all this when I decided to buy a cool android. Booooo.

if i delete all cookies and never access my FB from my computer will that keep them from tracking me? if it's not FB it'll be another way I suppose...

i use FB to keep contact with family, my close friends, and people who are out of my area. i sooo wish i could delete it. i keep simplifying. sooner or later I'll say goodbye.
