What does it even mean?

To be a hippie?

 

Whatever you want it to mean. To you, that is.

 

wear your pants at your hips and never at the waist... that is 'hippie' in it's most simple form.

Just a description, really. Like anything else, it means different things to different people. What does it mean to not be a hippie, or to be a non-hippie?

 

"To thine self be true" just about covers it for me
Having conviction of conscience against a mass of adverity may see you classed as a "Fool on the Hill" for your beliefs, though better that than within a crowd of ignorance

where does the term 'Hippie' originate an what was its true meaning?
Lately ive been a bit down with certain hippies an have thought that perhaps the word was short for 'hypocrite. No offence to anyone on here btw.

 

it means to do what the fuck you want, fuck society and the 'norm'. if you want to live off the land as we were intended, do exactly that. if you want to be on acid everyday, do exactly that. if you want to grow plants smoke the buds and make your own hemp clothing with the stems, fucking do exactly that.

hippie to me (and i'm no old school so correct me if i'm wrong) means be free, do as you will and let no stereotype hold you in limbo, be what it is you are.... whatever that may be

 

Thats what i thought,an i'm totaly cool with that, just a bit dissilusioned with some folk who claim to be this way thats all, an altho i agree with doing what one wants , i believe also in my book that that doesnt include havin the freedom to fuck people over, an as of late i have experienced some of this by socalled hippy anarchists. But musnt tar everyone with the same brush eh;
