So how many of you were aware of that, and who made a conscious effort to use public transport, bicycle or good old man powered legs?

Wasn't aware of that Though I do make a concious effort to be car-less at least 2 days out of the week - if that is any good ?
I built a sleigh, reighndeer and all. I figured I would reward all the children way in advance of CHristmas.:afro:
It would have taken me a ridiculously long time to walk to work yesterday. I would have died if I tried to ride my bicycle. Car it is for me. I'm about to move in city limits where I'll have access to public transportation, except public transportation only runs 6 days a week 8-6:30. What the hell, public transportation system? I can't even take the bus to a bar at night. Coming home drunk is when people need public transportation the most.
if the dominant culture wasn't so anal, there wouldn't be such a thing as rush hour. i haven't owned a car myself for more then ten years. and while over the years of my life, i have owned four or five vehicules, one at a time, i've probably lived without them as many, if not more, years then i have with. it's lovely to be able to go places that are too far to walk and there isn't any other way to get to, but they're (cars) a pain in the ass with four wheels on the bottom more often then not. and any place where there are enough people living in close enough proximity for any sort of public transportation to be practical, and more then 90% of people in the u.s. actually do, cars do NOT belong in cities, even small ones. public transportation, preferably on scaled to demand rails, and propelled by non-combustion means, do. people are addicted to what they're familiar with, and what they're familiar with is killing the planet.
