an idea.

so, i've become a bit anal about keeping the acid i have safe from degredation as much as posible. I have it stored inside a book, inside a ziploc bag which has another ziploc bag and inside that zip loc is acid wrapped in tin foil. i was eating tostitos today and got an idea. the tostitos glass jar can probably work too! i wash it out, sterilize it completely, then place tin foil inside all around to prevent any light from coming into contact with the acid. i'd place the ziploc inside it, close it up, jar is air tight, and store the jar somewhere dark and cool. what do u guys think?

i store my L in tinfoil/plastic bag - that is wrapped in a piece of paper or saran wrap - that is in an amber glass vial - the glass vial is in a mason jar which has desiccant in it - and the whole thing is in a brown paper bag in the fridge

pretty similar to your idea. i figure you can't be too careful with that precious, fragile molecule

yeah dude, I wouldn't worry too much. It'll be fine if it were just wrapped in tin foil and hidden under the bed I bet (unless if you have pet that would get it haha)

 

Those steps are quite redundant unless you're storing this acid for years/decades . . . in a baggy in a dark, cool place it will keep for a long time. I never hold on to acid for very long though

 

if there's no issue with putting it in the fridge though...WHY NOT? it can't hurt (unless it gets wet somehow)

 

would acid be safe if you just hid it in a guitar case? That's something I wanted to try, if you planned to hold onto to it for no more than 2 weeks. Probably just a week

 

Because when you remove it from the freezer (and to a lesser extent the fridge) condensation will always happen. Which pretty much undoes what you put it in there for in the first place.

But thats for normal people and not crazy people like you Obviously a jar with desiccant will remove the moisture inside, then only on the outside would there be condensation.

I still don't think that acid is that fragile.

 

In tin foil on ur desk will keep it fine for a month. I've never experienced a loss of potency over just a month no matter how I kept it. Obviously don't put it in sunlight though...
