    A joke. Above.

The guy should go to jail for 20 counts of fraud. 2 years for each count, and they drop the drug charge altogether. Take way we can quit talking about it.

With 15 months he'll be out in 9 months early release, with 3 years probation. That's nothing. Next think you know he'll be making millions by selling cancer vacations to the Amazon in Brazil.

He should have received 40 years for fraud.

Actually Aziz was earning "little more than a subsistence income" according to this local news article.

He "made only £10,000 a year and lived in a humble two-bedroom former council house with his family .... This isn't a case where a man is selling cocaine to make a good living of Maseratis and villas on the Riviera."

It wasn't just cancer patients that came to him - and even the judge admitted that he had done a lot of good for a lot of people.

If Aziz was the shaman for a tribe, his survival needs would be taken care of. In this ugly and fragmented tribe called the UK, shamans aren't provided by society with their needs to live so he is forced to provide for himself. Charging money for ayahuasca, especially as he was making so little out of doing so, has nothing whatsoever to do with how genuinely he cares about his clients. He needs to eat!

And even if he did make millions out of this, why the hell shouldn't he? Other people make millions out of selling hamburgers

People praying on desperate people deserve it. I'm not a prohibitionist, but for me this story is about a drugs, but a man taking money from desperate people.

How unusual! I went to a talk given by Peter once as he lives near my Town. It's a shame the doctors and 'authoritys' can't understand the wishes of people with cancer ... or people with deep problems they need to face, to do what they feel might work for them.
Peter is genuine enough in what he does and he's been shamanizing for a good 20 years at least i think. Personally i find him a bit odd ... but then hey, shamans ARE odd! :)

    Well said Ed63!

A couple of the drugs mentioned ,I have no direct knowledge of, but some drugs open the mind to things"hidden" and further or create the ability to "see"' and fascillitate critical thinking. That, along with the money and jobs created,I believe is the main cause of prohibition. Alcohol is the perfect drug for this society--thousands dying in wrecks,by alcoholism, murders, ect. Good for the economy and certainly does not encourage or bestow any kind of intellectual advantage. The failing educational system has been one facet of the massive ,succesfull transfer of wealth upwards. As we can see, about half the people still don't believe it has been/IS happening, because people like Cain,Palin,Bachman,Perry and the rest of the right wingers still have credibility with them. (Oh--I forgot that cocksucker Gingrich.) Critical thinking and the ability to "see" thru their machinations would be disastrous to them. How anyone can still believe they give a shit about working people is beyond me. Now,Rat may come in and say something like--"you still believe that there's any differance between any of them ? It's the Rothchilds-the Fed,Goldman-Sachs--ect-ect. Right. I know. They cannot be gotten to until there is a viable 3rd and maybe a 4th party formed and elections won--but they NEED to be gotten to. First things first. Maybe it's happening now?? Sorry I turned this into a political rant--but the connection/s here are undeniable. The one facet of Paul's personality--I like. That is,you know where he stands on issues, agree or disagree. I don't know anything about the guy arrested and I don't care--he's just another casualty of prohibition.
