    Hi folks,

    saying hello to you all.

I am a seasoned (to not say old :)) raver, botanist and initiated to Bwiti.

I have had the pleasure to meet Dr. Schultes many years ago as I was aspiring to become an ethnobotanist but sometimes life takes you elsewhere.

I thought it would be a good idea to kind of catch up with what is going on these days and hopefully we can eventually share some knowledge.

    Peace.

I assume you mean Dr. Richard Evans Schultes. I believe you are the first aspiring ethnobotanist I have meet on HF. What did you wind up doing and where do your interest now lie?
At any rate - welcome to HF

    Hi,

    Thank you for the welcome.

    Indeed the one and only.

I started with a pretty extensive collection of plants and due to climate, finances and living arrangements, I had to drastically cut one my number of specimens.
I ended up getting a corporate job.... but I am still thinking about a way of doing something that truly interests me while being able to put bread on the table.

I am good friend with a Nganga in Gabon and my wish would be to bring and guide people to Gabon to become initiated into Bwiti and learn about their great culture and while I am at it, collect specimens in the jungle :)

My current interests have not changed much, composing music and tweaking synthesizers, plants and the culture surrounding them and chemistry (non degree level).

Being initiated into Bwiti - does that mean you have also partaken of the Iboga rite? Interesting. If so how did that come about.
My initiation into the realm of vision and introspection came through a little more common route during the early 70's - Lysergic acid diethylamide.

that's correct....a long story, and after reading the FAQ I would hate for this thread to get closed for turning into a discussion :)
Still new to this forum and not sure if I can PM yet.

Either way, maybe I'll start a new thread about it or we can take this over PM if you like.

I'd like that. You will probably have to start a thread on Bwiti though I'm not sure there will me much awareness of it.
You will probably have to wait until you get 10-15 post before you get privileges to PM. Why don't you click on my name above the picture of the of the hippie and it will take you to my profile where we can leave brief messages. I would love to hear of some of your experiences and frankly - I've had some pretty interesting things in my long past also - coming up in that era.
I'm going to send you a brief message on your profile just so you will remember my user name.

    Cool.

@ Ddoright, I see a message from you but I don't seem to be able to reply to it yet. I will work my way up creating some threads.

Thank you all, looking forward to learning and sharing.

welcome to the forums man, no clue what ethnobotany is but I'd be assuming it has something to do with plants and their native area or some such due to it's name. Well anyway have a good time here.
    Peace n' love
