As a counterpoint to the 'most annoying beliefs' thread, this is a thread to post the ideas you find most inspiring... I find the immense, unimaginable vastness of the universe quite inspiring, and the fact that it came from an infinitesimal point. The fact that people have evolved a moral sense and genuine altruism by means of the selfish gene is pretty cool.
I find one of the most awe of inspiration can come from experiencing the discoveries that we make from within - for we know far less than we think about ourselves than 'we' like to think
the natural world inspires me. animals, nature, the seasons, the elements. that sort of stuff. oh, hang on, what have i LEARNT that's inspired me....oh i don't know. solar systems and the universe and i guess natural world can still stand.
Patterns in nature can be recreated using simple computer algorithms. When the algorithm is run, it produces a pattern that is found through nature. Although the general form is the same, each run of the algorithm produces a different and unique version that can never be reproduced.
The philosophical notion that love is not some petty little thing that we can give to one and take away from or fall out of with another. It's just this eternal way that always has been and always will be just there, and one can either choose to acknowledge and share and extend it, or one can ignore it. Also, that it isn't something that is only meant to be given to family or a significant other, but something to be shared with every single person, in any relation at any given moment, and when one does this, love becomes greater because it is extended and shared. It isn't ours to give away and take back, it's simply something we can recognize and extend in many different ways and gestures.
exactly, so there is no truth and that's the truth, but there is no truth so that can't be true, but then niether can that. sounds boring. and annoying.
That Honesty Is The Best Policy.... My Parent's Told Me This, Many, Many, Years Ago.... Worked For Them, And I'm Proud To Say, Has Worked For Me As Well.... Cheers Glen.
