2/5 is the most highly decorated battalion in the Marine Corps and their motto, "Retreat, Hell!", comes from the French trenches of World War I, when a Marine officer named Lloyd W. Williams was ordered to retreat and replied, "Retreat? Hell, we just got here!" Im a millitary historian but i dont advocate. This like 'Follow me you apes we all die sometime.' Many 'sophiscates' may laugh. But IF Shit happens.. i want fighters.. not philosophes
cool.. i know some pls expand or do you mean "combat" the series Even Prvt Ryan had one. and he in end.. he came true But Ryan and Cpt both philosophers in their way One lived one died But the last engagement was a commanded by Cpt Miller His plan Philosophers should always lead and like life. others follow Its called civilization or if they dont its tyrany
I never knew this quote. That quote I thought was attributed Gen. Chesty Puller, "Retreat hell, we fighting backwards". I see there are many variations of the same phrase. :2thumbsup:
Clay It from wiki. I Bough Flic Battle for LA. It was used ~ 5 times. Great flic. up there with we were soldiers, Gates and Ryan Of course Marines have logos. Semper Fi and such but real 'no retreat' is more Gothard Heinrici in my book. SEElow hights '45 [operational combat tho] Thus the philosopher comment. 20 to 1. and Heinrici crapped on russians Boaz
