I have yet to see this movie, but I think I get the idea after reading all these posts and after seeing ads and such. I do agree with all crap about ads persuading you to eat this and that and what have you. But I agree more with this thought: Why can't people think for themselves? And it IS true that parents do hold power over what the kids eat and don't eat. If parents wouldn't feed it to their kids so much, they're less likely to be "addicted" to it. Also.. did anyone ever think of the fact that it just tastes good to people and that's why they're eating it, instead of just writing off a corporation and saying it's their advertisings fault? Get real.
Fats and sugars deeply and emotionally satisfy over a million years of chronic hunger for carbohydrates. It'll be a long time before our psycho-evolution catches up with our current over-abundance. In the mean-time, there are rich profits to be reaped from our lag-time. We don't often think for ourselves, because we're Social-Primates. Our Primate genius for deception causes us to think that we're not influenced by suggestion. Parents exercise their power by implanting into the next generation the germ of social suggestion, and the genius for self-deception.
And that's the parent's fault, no one else's. Honestly, advertisements are a part of the world we live in. There are plenty of people that I know that don't eat fast food for various reasons. Although we may be influenced, at the end of the day, we make our own choices. Can you tell me how fast food is addictive?? Because I've yet to read conclusive evidence proving that people can become physically addicted to fast food.
