back in the day they had an all human be-in... "A Gathering of the Tribes" There are different tribes today. Dead heads Rainbo folk Burners Juggalos Train Hoppers Hobos Can you think of some others? (of course one could be a member of any, all, or none of these tribes)
yup. ICP definately has it's own tribe. They have gatherings and such, a distinct form of dress, and attitude... Any other bands besides ICP and the Grateful Dead have their own cults?
Anyhow.... I just thought it would be cool if we had something like back in 67. get people together. Rainbow is everything and everybody.... but the rainbow gatherers are a distinct group of people.. we oughtta all get together man! doesn't seem like much intrest here tho.
You're not paying attention, are you? There are those Gatherings. There is a lot of interest, but something that some people find is it's great once or twice, but it's just a stage in life. Some people go to a bunch of Gatherings. There's the national and then the regional. Where are you at in the picture?
OneVoice, there are those Gatherings. What individual tribes and families do is their choice. The Tribe I am with meets up monthly.
personally I don't consider myself to be part of any tribe because I don't believe in stereotyping. But that isn't to say that anyone who does consider themselves as part of something are wrong. Just my personal opinion. But if someone were to stereotype me I guess I'd be a dead head and a former hobo/ train hopper.
some1 a few yrs ago decided 2 call our gig here a gathering of the tribes or agott. the name has kinda stuck. so we have this annually in missouri same dates as natls, tho not nearly as big ofcourse.
not sure what your problem is, why the distain. if folks want to identify themselves with one tribe/group or another that's them self identifying. i, personally, don't have a membership in any group or tribe but i might someday if i ever felt an affinity.
Our "a gathering of the tribes" has been held annually for approx the last 7 yrs. I've been to 4 of these. The ones I didn't attend I heard from reliable friends prettymuch th same deal. & I've visited the sites these were held on. One of the complaints about agott is that it's small. Uhh, since when does being a small gathering make it bad? About road dogs & acamp there: we combine most everything in one spot. We do this becuz it's small. The reason there is no trail from whatever passes for "front gate to what should be a maincircle is really quite simple & quite often the simple things go jun-noticed. Laziness, no one wants to walk the usual distance to form a main circle away from a front gate. I have tried to do this many times. So we have stuck w/ a certain plan & it worrks quite well. If ne1 objects to the way we do things come to a gathering of the tribes & form a main circle away from it all. This is held 12 miles east of ava missouri on hwy 14 state conservation area sign says rippee access. Its in a lil township called sweden. U will see that sign first. Turn right follow gravel road to bottom of hill. Turn right. We are usually 2nd or 3rd camp from the pit toilet on the end. Bear in mind this is held same time as nationals. We are not sure we will have it there in 2012 or not. Most want it there because of its success. The 4 times I've been there may have 8 official road dawgs. & maybe 5 acampers. This doesn't amount 2 much in that world. Most acampers cause trouble in larger numbers. & yes there is alcohol. But is kept @ a friendly level, perhaps bcuz of healing energy or something. We observe circle on the 4th of july noon seperate from front gate. Alcohol is strictly forbidden durin that time. So is weed. The other location is called fiery forks state conservation area. I have been to a council there in the past, these generally don't last long. I was disappointed to leave, as it's on a river. Approx 12 mi ne of camdenton mo. i'd personally like srping regional there, but we haven't had one in long time as far as I know. Alotta family live in that area. & know it well. Our reputation here in missouri has been mostly spread by those who have never been to agott. Or only attend one day & do not walk the trail. Rippee has a very good trail, leading to to a sacreed cave.
