Haha, this is so funny. During these past few weeks I've met several people who for some reason seem to think that reindeers are not real, that they only exist in fairytales. Seriously. I feel almost guilty when I tell them that not only are reindeers real animals, but also that we eat them in Finland. You should see the looks on their faces when they hear that on Christmas dinner we have poor little roasted Rudolp on the table.. :D

So anyway, I just want to make sure that you all know reindeers do exist. And also, while we're somewhat on the topic... You DO know that Santa Claus lives in Korvatunturi, in Lapland, and NOT in the North Pole? :p

i just looked up and found..

In 1925, since grazing reindeer would not be possible at the North Pole, newspapers revealed that Santa Claus in fact lived in Finnish Lapland. "Uncle Markus", Markus Rautio, who compared the popular "Children's hour" on Finnish public radio, revealed the great secret for the first time in 1927: Santa Claus lives on Lapland's Korvatunturi - "Ear Fell" The fell, which is situated directly on Finland's eastern frontier, somewhat resembles a hare's ears - which are in fact Santa Claus's ears, with which he listens to hear if the world's children are being nice. Santa has the assistance of a busy group of elves, who have quite their own history in Scandinanvian legend.

    intresting ??

You will be teling us all reindeers can fly next..you Finlanders have got frost bite to the brains :p

    Your mean  ;)

    do you eat them ?

Nimh: No, that's not the real Santa. Real Santa lives in Korvatunturi. You can write him and he will answer you. Or even better, you can go and visit him there. :D
    The address is:
    Joulupukin Pääposti
    96930 Napapiiri
    Finland

(You can also Google it and see it's for real. :D)

Thank you, Matthew. :D See? I'm not trying to fool you, I'm telling the truth. :)

And I agree, Finns in general are mean. Rudolphs are not supposed to be eaten. :( I would never ever be that mean. Maybe I'm not a real Finn.

And duhhh, of course reindeers can fly! Why are you questioning something like that..? What's wrong with you, dude? :D

It's sad how little people know about the natural world....

I personally would never eat a reindeer though. Or anything else with a face ;)

I only know one finn (you) so i can't comment on your authenticity, but just starting a thread about eating reindeers is enough to tell me you must be a Finn

Forgive my stupidity, of course reindeers can fly .. duhh ..silly me .

Silly me (again) , i keep sending letters to:

    Santa claus/Father christmas
    Reindeerland
    SAN TA1

And i get nothing back , i will try the other two options this year.
