I recently started working from home, and that's leaving me a lot of free time while my friends are out going to school or working a real job. I'm looking for fun things to occupy my time with. So far, I read and write and draw, and watch a lot of movies and go for a lot of walks. What are some other fun things to do? I was thinking of taking a pottery class, but that's EXPENSIVE. If a hobby's expensive, that ruins it for me. What ideas do you have? What do you do for fun? P.S. Smoking pot is out. I lost my taste for the stuff in 2005.
Basket weaving is a good one. It's free if you can get access to plants and that's not hard. Best bet is one year old willow shoots because you can just collect them and weave, a lot of other materials require some sort of preperation. Or you could just buy shit to weave. There's all sorts of techniques but twining is a good place to start.
my hobbies for fun are photography and driving bush roads/exploring new trails I also have other hobbies that generate some income like collecting copper wire and when Im bored I pull out (or make) tools and strip the plastic off...I like to buy a car once in a while too and fix it up a little at a time when Im bored then resell it ..I also fix all kinds of other stuff (4 wheelers,cameras,appliances..etc) ..I dont like being rushed so if anyone drops something off for me I always explain its a hobby and Ill call when its done so dont bug me for it lol
I just bought a ukulele! Having fun with that! I wouldn't be able to do juggling. I'm such a freakin' klutz.
Playing any instrument would be a nice way to spend your day. I play the bass guitar and just like to chillax and bust out some groovy bass lines. I also crochet, and play hackysack. Just whatever you do,its always better stoned
On the same lines I'd reckon something Arty - maybe walking in the woods collecting material / photos for album project type thing?
Fun hobbies: Playing and learning how to play an instrument, learning how to fix or build things, teaching yourself a new academic subject area unrelated to your field of concentration, walking/hiking with a small group of people in cool nice weather, collecting things, cleaning your house (I enjoy doing it), building things out of wood (desks, bookcases, outdoor stuff like decks), researching your family tree. Those are some things I like to do in my free time, and most don't cost too much money. Even things like playing an instrument can be inexpensive if you shop around for a good economy instrument. Building things out of wood is cheaper than most people think as well. I built a bookcase with my grandfather (he has the saws, etc.) that cost me $55.00, but would easily fetch $400.00 if bought in a store.
I also make lots of hemp jewellery. Its super easy and I like collecting various beads to use. I also recently took up painting which I'm not good at but I love listening to music and just painting whatever comes to mind. Its not very expensive, you can just pick up a few different colours of paint and some cheap brushes and a cheap canvas if you want or paint on a piece of bark or whatever and just go for it. Guitar is also a good way to pass time. Maybe starting up an organic garden? Mixing up organic fertilizer and buying a bunch of seeds and seeing what you can grow and trying to figure out why the heck some things just won't work for you.
I recently started gaming. that's actually a lot of fun so long as you have decent speed internetzzz.
well for me i spend a lot of my time in our forest,mountains,... I also have an pet dog so that takes you some time to. Im also active in sports : wildwater kayaking,Running,Skiing. But for now i only have running its to cold for kayaking and there is no snow yet. I also meditate that takes about 40 minutes a day.
Fixing old bicycles was a hobby, but is now a business. Riding bicycles is still a great hobby, and good for you. I also listen to an AM pocket radio on cold winter nights, and see how many stations I can hear. So far I have heard 24 states, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, and China. Not bad for being in Georgia.
Hula hooping! Im going to buy some PVC tubing and make one of my own today. There are lots of tutorials on you tube. Also, yoga is great. You can find free videos all over. I recommend podcasts from yogajournal.com
