Could be recognized as true by any and all humans and things world round. I mean an absolute truth is absolutely true and would be recognized as such by all, as it is absolute. There would need no debate about it. What this means is that any truth that relies upon lets for example say, the english language, cannot be absolutely true. Because it requires a person speak and comprehend in english to recognize it. I mean how can something be absolutely true if it is only registering to the percentage of humans that speak english? It isn't asbolutely true, it's a relative truth, relative to the english speaking population, if even that large. So no absolute truth can be metaphorically grasped and communicated in the english language, otherwise it would not be an absolute truth, it would be a relative to english speakers truth. I want you all, particularly those of who EVANGELIZE things in the English language as being 'true' to think about this. If your truth relies on English it cannot be absolute because it will never go past the boundaries of English speakers. If your truth is relying on any single language, or even a group of languages this means there is a greater truth, yet still, beyond it.
I know what you mean, and it is important, despite the MayQueen's mad rants! j/k MayQueen. But yes. A new absolute truth would be something, and it could be anything. It's odd what we take for granted as absolutely true now. Imagine explaining to someone from the 17th century that there was invisible information floating around their heads that could be transferred from one device to another. What we take for granted is something so fantastically amazing that it's sad we aren't just stunned. Our worldview gets turned upside-down all the time, and people still forget and say, "Oh well this is it." lol
The only true absolute to reality that I can vouch is that it bites... I've got a graphic t-shirt that proves this.
Absolute truth (sorry I only use one language fluently): EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING HAD A BEGINNING AND WILL DIE. Perhaps this could be simplified to DEATH Or perhaps better to bring in the non-organic world as well as the subatomic: DECAY Or, maybe the Buddhists have had it right all along: IMPERMANENCE. Though there is much denial of this the denial is itself just a hallucination/false perception/defense mechanism. Work through that and get down to the truth and that's what's left.
Reality is not a truth, nor is absolutism. Truth is not compatible in a universe based on absurdity and chaos where existence itself is as provable as a five sided triangle. All we can do is postulate.
Einstein - results are relative to the observer Any absolute truth is going to be interpreted dozens of different ways
Language is a bad example of an "absolute truth." Things that are absolutely true would be things in the solid form, in my opinion. There is a tree outside my window, that is absolutely true. I was born with an ugly mole on my stomach...the mole part is definitely absolute. The english language can be interpreted/spoken/understood in many ways, so absolute it is not
This x10 There are no universal truths, only widely accepted interpretations. Each of those examples is subjective...
Absolute “truth” is unverifiable. Take any part of “shared reality” (that which we all seem to experience together), often called truth. It doesn’t matter if it is the ultimate existence of matter, structure of the universe, the dynamics of power and control (how human systems “really work”), human nature, natural functions of the weather or anything that we assume to be “true” because we all experience it. Lay it out and look closely at it, and like the explanations a government gives its people, you will begin to see holes, inconsistencies, points that do not really seem to fit. Under close scrutiny, all perceptions of “truth” have these. As one continues to look deeper, more and more of these become apparent. When we begin to pay more attention to the “holes”, we begin to see something behind what we thought of as solid “truth”. The more we focus, the more that, what shows through the “holes” seems to form a completely different picture of a “reality” behind the “reality”. Until it seems more real than what we had thought to be “real”. The trap is that it is easy, to then believe, that our new found “truth”, really is “the truth”. We begin to perceive things, interpret things, make decisions based on what we now see as truth. When it is usually just one more layer of illusion. For if you begin to scrutinize it, it too begins to show holes. How many political movements, conditions of paranoia, scientifically blind belief systems, etc., have come to be, solely because the new perception of reality is accepted as “truth”? How many layers of illusion does one have to go through to get to “The real truth”? There is no way to know. And even if we were to get to it, how could we know, that this one is (this time, really), reality. Worse yet, what if there is no set amount of layers of illusion? Only that we are unwittingly creating them as we go. There could be no end, no finding of absolute truth and it’s pursuit a guaranteed trail of dead ends. Avoiding interpersonal conflict and demonstrating an active, outgoing concern for the happiness and well being of others, makes what we experience in the here and now, a much cooler trip. A “reality” that feels much more deserving, of at least my efforts.
How do you know when you've seen through the last layer of illusion to what is truly absolute? You really shouldn't have to ponder that, it should be obvious.
The tree outside your room is absolutely there? What if there was something in the same space of your room, but in a different dimension devoid of the tree? What if different people are looking at the same tree, but perceiving it completely different? One person tree appears like that of a photo, another person tree is glowing green, another persons is waving back and forth like ocean waves. Even the perception of physical matter is not absolute.
That's the point. One can't. For it to be obvious, assumes we are capable of comprehending and recognizing absolute truth. An assumption that, historically, has not proven to be very dependable.
History has proven it to be wrong because of terrible things of the past? I tend to assume that the atrocities of the past are because people never came face to face with confronting that which is absolutely true. Rather than them just not being able to recognize it. I don't think its possible for a person to not recognize it. It'd be like you not being able to recognize your mother, or the sight of the earth from a distance, or even yourself. It's our innate nature to recognize it. I assume people don't retain recognition of it because it is too intense for them too, they can't handle it and it will destroy them, so they cover it up with postulating and 'philosophy' and 'religion' and 'theory' and 'belief' Now certainly we can't comprehend it. I also believe that it's impossible to comprehend it. It'd be like a CPU understanding the nature of electricity, one cannot think with and fathom that which its very thoughts are composed of, it's like a recursive infinite loop. But this does not mean one cannot be in constant recognition and awareness of it.
OK. Let's assume you are right. Could you, please, share with us what you have come to recognize as "absolute truth"? So that I might come to recognize it to.
HAHAHAHA LET'S TALK ABOUTH THIS HAHAHAHAHAHAHA The truth is you're absolutely wasting your time if you haven't already come to a conclusion yet. Please close this thread, it makes my little feelings hurt.
its the only thing that is present to every human and thing to put a name to it would inherently make 'it' not 'it', because then it would be a word, instead of the thing that is present in every human and thing my opening post of this thread, explaining how its not possible to explain an absolute truth in a language, this is still true... for all the the reasons already discussed This is why some forms of discovery revolve around meditation, rather than preaching and reading. It is the only way. Sit and pay attention long enough, you will notice the single constant that always is ever present in everything. It is more obvious than you tend assume, generally it is it's obvioussness that makes it diffucult for people to grasp onto, as they expect it to be something more intricate, more esoteric, when really it is the most simple thing to ever exist. People tend to want money and pussy, so everything in their thought process is oriented towards getting those things which are very intricate. So they don't see any reason to look the opposite way, into that which is less intricate. But to know where your going and how to get there you must know where you came from, this is where the value of recognition of such a thing can come into play.
