WOW! I was so surprised when I heard this album for the first time. I thought Opeth was just another black metal (or something like that...) band, but this album is so different from any of their other albums! It's so beautiful and also musically very talented. Reminds me of early Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and also a bit of Radiohead. So lovely. How many of you have heard Opeth? I suspect not too many, coz it's a Swedish band, but I might be wrong. Also, if you know the album I'm talking about, give me your opinions.

Ive heard opeth....dont think it was anything from damnation but ive certainly heard stuff by opeth in general, and i like them a lot. peace and love xxxx
Yeah, I don't like some of their newer stuff so much though.. But I haven't heard a lot of it in a while either... Just a few I've downloaded...
I don't really even know what stuff is new and what is old, coz I just started listening to them about two years ago after seeing them live. Their album Images and Words is just too beautiful. Hmmm... I think I'm over-using the word beautiful in this thread...
Yup, Damnation is very beautiful. It's very different from their other albums. I like their heavier stuff more, but they do melodic and clean vocals (I love Mikael's voice) beautifully as well. And yeah, there are a few DT-esque moments in Opeth. Dream Theater is amazing, and not only in a "sad" way. They're just fucking fantastic. And yes, Awake is awesome. But then again, I'm biased since Dream Theater and Opeth are my favorite bands...haha.
