How do music, drugs and dancing fit into your spiritual experience? I find psytrance music has a grounded sort of feel, where you experience the vibes of your surroundings, achieving oneness with those around you and whatnot.
Ecstasy is my sacrament for the trance dance. Much like other psychedelics, I find that those moments of connectedness and transcendence do not come at will but often things like knowing the music and environment help. (set and setting) It's the only psychedelic that really allows me to dissolve into the music and the surroundings at raves. I've never been able to feel comfortable enough in public on any other psychedelics at raves to go deep with them, though I can use other psychedelics in conjunction with MDMA and that has provided some very powerful experiences for me. The types of music that I find best suited for a deep, transformative dancing experience are psytrance, trance and house. Drum n bass is one of my favorite types of rave music to listen to though as well.
i definatly prefer listening to some very spacey/jazzy dubstep while on heavy doses. i don't really like the real robotic sounding wobbles. but artists suck as joker or the deubsteppers for haiti albums are good. they seem to help me get lost in my own mind and it seems as if everything visually and mentally are just going to the music. it seems to help give me a deeper more rich experience everytime.
i love tripping balls at raves . the best is when i feel that my consciousness is one with the music and feel like those around me are acting as a part of my own subconscious
Live music and drugs fit together perfectly to me. I don't dance, so I can't help you there. However, I have had many spiritual experiences while playing and watching jazz music under the influence of drugs. Opioids are my Drug of Choice, and they fit in perfectly with the mix.
i wouldn't really describe it as part of my "spiritual" experience. i suppose tripping often feels spiritual though. anyways... i very much enjoying tripping on LSD at outdoor festivals. never been to a rave, and "house, trance, dubstep, drum n bass" are all terms i'm basically unfamiliar with. i prefer a "jam band" festival. i don't dance much either, but i've been able to let loose a few times on LSD, and sort of melted into the crowd. at one festival, the whole crowd was dancing as one, like a wave. it was almost like i could see the sound waves crashing into us, and our dance was only us trying to maintain our balance i got the same type of feeling that i do on 2ce when i listen to any music, live or not, that they were performing JUST for me.
Those 3 elements are acting together in synergy to bring me in a deep trance. That and the setting (how the venue is like, decoration, other people's vibe, weather, etc.) influence a lot what kind of trip I'm gonna have. Deep, contemplative and spiritual? Fun, with lots of talk and laughter? Affectionate, with much cuddling, massaging and kissing? I never know how it'll turn out, but it always feels right.
See if you can find a small psytrance camping party near you. I think you'll be glad you did. "Testify!" (as they say in the buckle of the bible belt) ... mdma, 4AcO, 2CE - all perfect in that setting. You'll be amazed at how truly psychedelic they are. The parties and the music are more psychedelic (to me) than the Dead, the Doors, Jimi, Jefferson Airplane, etc. They're actually better than pretty much anything in the 60s and 70s.
to those who say they don't dance.. i used to feel the same way... but honestly just get up there and make shit up!!
When tripping, I prefer music like bob dylan with lyrics and melodies that work on more than one level
