Oh dude it sucks that you lost your ipod man, I hope you can afford to buy another one. Man that would bum me out totally if I ever lost something like that.

I lost two iPods, and it put me on a right downer both times. Now it might be the case that I am being slightly selfish for buying a product that is in made in some way from third world slave labour, but you know what? I don't really care, I still want one. I need one, because (a) my social life has been practically extinguished and (b) when I do go to the pub they're usually playing some shit I've heard a million times. I can sit at home in silence, safe in the knowledge that I've made a small insignificant difference to the world, or I can just accept that things aren't right in the world and make the best of it. ALL computers and ALL mp3 players are on some way unethical and exploitative, and environmentally damaging, but one things for sure I'm not going to stop having one because the world can't work out a way to make them ethically.

I don't even think it's a true I've lost my iPod story anyway. I think it's made up. Dropped it in a sewer indeed.. who does that?

What's funny is the idea that you "need" an ipod. You need oxygen, water, food and shelter. That overly extravagant and overpriced mp3 player is a "want," indeed, a luxury..

Not saying you're not entitled to your luxuries, mind you. Spend your money however the hell you want, but for me, spending 10 times more than necessary on something that will play music, just for the brand, is utterly pointless.

Edit: Especially because you have to put itunes on your computer for the motherfucker to work.

 

OK then, I'll go and donate my iPod to OXFAM.

Then I'll have no music to drown out the noise of the city when I go out, and I'll have to listen to Beyonce and Westlife when I do my shopping, interspersed with *would jamie please come to the front till please, jamie to the front tiiiiiill*

But my first mp3 player was a Xmas present. A 2GB 2nd gen nano. There was no turning back after that.

I also hate iTunes it's slows as fuck.

Also apple sold me a load of drm protected albums without me realising, and then refused to un-drm them. So yeah, fuck apple. Profit before people.

I like my iPod touch though, you get some nice little games for it and you can watch films on it. I mostly use it for music though, it was bought to replace a 3rd gen nano I lost.
