Hi there, I am looking for music songs that basically are empowering. Songs that remind someone to let go of the past, be confident, be independent, etc. Sometimes, I get the case of being a bit needy , perhaps a little lacking in self-confidence and I am looking for a selection of songs that remind me of letting go of those types of negative thoughts. I tend to like acoustic, alternative, folk. The only thing that I tend to stay away from is speed metal. I like Jack Johnson, Gary Jules, APC, Mishka, Pink, RHCP. Some of you that might have crossed my posts before have probably seen that this is one of my new favorites: [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4BrnSm1yIs Thanks in advance for the suggestions!
Well I really don't know if this'll do the trick for you but you might want to get a hold of the Mumford & Sons album. It's not empowering per se, but It's really awesome, and always makes me feel good. ''Love, it will not betray you, dismay, or enslave you: it will set you free.'' If you like the reggae kinda vibe in some of Xavier Rudd or Mishka's songs perhaps you dig these acoustic tunes as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dXwgz8_m-w"]HIt Dem Wid De One-Drop - Linval Thompson - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy09QtY5-6c"]Be Careful - Matthew McAnuff - YouTube
A song that always brightens up my day is People Everyday by Arrested Development. They've done quite a few versions but this is my favourite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNSMtLjnLlY"]Arrested Development - People Everyday (HQ) - YouTube There is also Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn that for me, in a particular mood, can achieve a very powerful response to the music.. Go download his album Mustt Mustt, has many great songs on it Velvet Underground have plenty of great music that will place you in a calmer mood, for example Oh! Sweet Nuthin' or Sweet Jane. Something gypsy perhaps? Always puts me in a groovy mood Tchavolo Swing - Dorado et Tchavolo Something more chill to bop your head to? Have A Good Time and Brother Sister by The Brand New Heavies Ofcourse you could never go past Bob Marley! Or you could try some 1920's Jazz and real Rythm & Blues with Billie Holiday and Etta James. Yeah, that's all I got at the moment, I kinda gave a wide range of things so hopefully some may appeal to you
Ani DiFranco. Some of her songs are difficult, but she created her own independent record label and is extremely driven by truth. Her songs take on themes of politics, feminism, sexuality, anti-mainstream etc.
