It's odd, the day before this happened I got into an argument with this racist bitch that I work with, who was spouting off some bullshit about how she was worried about the birth rate of Muslims. I couldn't believe my ears. She basically insinuated that Muslims were reproducing at a fever pitch rate here in the U.S. as part of some conspiracy to take over the world. I quickly reminded her that there was a period of time, not long ago in this country, when WASPY fucks like her were saying the same thing about Catholics and Jews. She, like a lot of the small minded idiots I'm forced to subject myself to at my workplace, equates Muslim with terrorist. I reminded her (sharply) that there have been more Muslim victims of Muslim Extremism than there has ever been Christian. She turned pale and shut the fuck then. I think I'm going to throw that little pearl of a phrase (Christian Terrorist) out the next time the opportunity arises and maybe she'll shut the fuck up. I get so fucking sick of racial and religious bigotry in this world - it makes me hate the human race. You take a real hard look at the Koran and the Bible (I confess to have read more of the Koran than I have of the Bible, and I do consider myself a Christian) I have yet to find a single passage in the Koran that advocates initiating violence with anyone (initiating being the key word here) because they are a non-believer - And I have found ample evidence of tolerance of non-Christians in the Old and New Testament. None of this conflict can be justified by anything Mohammed or Jesus said, or did, or asked us to do - it's all petty ass human bickering and greed and perversion of these prophets' words for the gain of some ruthless mother fuckers. I tell you what really makes me sick are these so-called Christian fundamentalists who like to going around saying that Jews killed Christ! Read your bible folks - nobody killed Christ - everything that happened to him was the will of God, right? So where do you get off blaming the Jews? I mean, if you really believe that Christ died for your sins - then you have no further than yourself to look for someone to blame for the death of Christ. Right?
These are from the site I quotes earlier which does place quotations from his manifesto online. Hardy a religious extremist. Again, he is using religion as a facade for a political message. As the terroist says: pragmatism, not religiosity or faith is the Christian connection. http://randallmelchert.com/2011/07/24/anders-behring-berivik-is-not-a-christian-fundamentalist/
LMAO at how European Christendom created European Secularism, the enlightenment, and our modern society... What a fucking hoot! All those things came about IN SPITE OF European Christendom and Catholicism. So yes, this murderer is indeed confused, but then again, so are MOST CHRISTIANS I meet. You've only helped prove my points. Thanks! Someone posted earlier about the need for more EDUCATION. DUH! Christian/Catholic schools are the worst brainwashers around. Kids graduate completely unprepared to face the real world. The shooter learned ALL HIS VALUES From Christians. You can't change that, no matter what you say. So he IS a Christian and thinks like one, and apparently has acted like one too. How many Christians soldiers have MURDERED strangers who never did anything to them? OH, but according to you self-righteous Christians, they aren't REAL CHRISTIANS. Maybe you guys need to Copyright "REAL CHRISTIANS" and hand out badges to those who qualify so we can all know who we're dealing with. I thought "bad Christians" got excommunicated. Was the shooter ever excommunicated? If not then he is still a "Christian" and would be anyway in his own mind.
Voltaire pretty much sums up what I think about this - "Of all religions, the Christian should of course inspire the most tolerance, but until now Christians have been the most intolerant of all men." What Jesus actually taught (and let's not forget how selectively the Catholic church chooses to portray that) couldn't be farther away from what is practised and preached by the vast majority of christians and their churches.
I was thinking about this at work today. Then I remembered that I'm actually related to someone who went to prison for Christian terrorism. I don't recall if he actually did the bombing or if he was innocent but gladly took the rap for another cell member. I'll have to ask my dad. His county folks considered him a hero. While I can comprehend why they think that way... I still think that's pretty fucked.
Fortunately, there is no copyright, and no agreed authority to excommunicate anyone, although some Christians have claimed that often enough, notably during the Inquisition and in many churches today. Anybody and his dog can use the Christian label. Jesus told us we can tell the real from the phony by their fruits: the fruit that Bachmann and the Norwegian Templar are peddling make me gag. I think Christianity went off the rails early on when the bishops climbed in bed with Emperor Constantine. The sin was compounded in this country when Falwell and Robertson got into bed with Emperors Reagan and G.W.. The example and teachings of the hippie Jesus give meaning to my life, but I recognize my view of Christianity is far different from "traditional" orthodoxy, with its emphasis on biblical inerrancy and belief in unbelievable doctrines. Fortunately, I've found good fellowship among mainline and Progressive Christians, with whom I'm in complete rapport, and a wonderful girl who shares my outlook. If you want to experience true Christianity, go to one of the gatherings of the Rainbow Family, whose members have a forum on this site. That's as close as it comes to my idea of what Jesus' Christianity was about; and most of them don't even consider themselves Christian. If the Christian rightwingers are raptured, as they expect to be, I envision them going to the great gathering in the sky, where they'll sit down and share a simple meal with toothless, bathless homeless people; hippies; disabled veterans; mental patients; drug addicts; gays;prostitutes--people of all races, colors, creeds, and walks of life--and it will be Heaven; but they'll probably think it's Hell.
I dunno. I think Christianity went off it's rails when Saul got heat-stroke and thought it was a revelation.
Yes, Jesus never took up arms against another, did he? Jesus never preached war, did he? Jesus never preached capitalism, did he? Jesus never killed anyone, did he? Jesus never preached intolerance and hatred towards other groups (except maybe the moneylenders aka banksters), proving he wasn't a capitalist, more of an anarchist. Yet American Christians preach these things every day in churches around the country. If you love Jesus and are into HIS words only, then don't call yourselves Christians cause you're just gonna get tarred like the rest of them. Call yourselves Jesus Freaks or something like that. Again, those who follow the teachings of Jesus and NOT of an established church, should disavow any connection with "Christianity" itself. Jesus was cool. Christianity is an abomination, a wicked perversion of Jesus' teaching used to control and exploit the masses. And it's not a coincidence that the Rainbow Family acts like "true christians", even though most of them are not Christian (or don't consider themselves to be). It's simply because people are NATURALLY Christlike, at least until some Church perverts their idea of what Christ was about. "Good Christians" don't exist. Good people exist independently of ANY RELIGION. NO RELIGION can take credit for the good actions of good people, but they can sure be blamed for inspiring hatred, intolerance and wars.
for as long as people continue to misinterpret christian teachings then christian terrorism is going to continue. this isn't a flaw in the fundamentals of christianity, it is a flaw in man. this is why it can be seen in every form of religion or nationality. so how does man overcome his selfish fear? well we are a long fucking way off from that.
I disagree, it IS a flaw in the fundamentals of Christianity... Tell me what is being misinterpreted in the following...
Are you seriously arguing that these are [the] fundamentals of Christianity? Give me a break. This is her "fundamentalist" list in context: (my emphasis) This is not fundamentalist. Fundamentalists adhere to a strict literalism, often dispensationalist, anti-Catholic, highly evangelical Christianity. Extremist Christians often will be fundamentalist but distort the Scripture to fit extreme political views as well. Brooks Thistlethwaite also cautions against overblowing the Christian connection. something I think should be taken to heart. After reading more excerpts from this lunatics Manifesto, yes I would agree with you that his version of cultural Christianity is important to investigate--however it is not enough to lynch 2 Billion people for the extremist religio-political actions.
Oh, a fundamental activity of EVERY CHRISTIAN CHURCH is FEAR MONGERING. I don't hear anyone addressing that part of this thread. Just read some of the billboards outside of them. (You're welcome to post examples from anywhere to illustrate my point). They will talk love and forgiveness one day, but then it's back to all those fears I mentioned earlier. Fear is used to control the minds of Christians. It's exactly what this Christian government is doing today regarding the debt. When they're not putting fear in your hearts about "terrorism", or "swine-flu", it's how broke America is and defaulting would be like some apocalypse. They're manipulating the masses thru fear for political power and economic profit. Apparently that is the Christian THING to do. FEAR=CONTROL=POWER=PROFIT To put personal profits of a few ahead of healthcare, social security and other benefits for the rest of America is so sick and greedy, it's truly disgusting, and makes me ashamed to be an American. This country is going down the tubes and the Christian-minded Capitalists behind this fleecing of America are gonna flee to safety with their booty.
Oh this is gonna be fun... Fear Mongering, Hate, Intolerance. Christians do it everyday. That's what being a Good Christian is about. Divide the country into US and THEM. Who's doing the hating here? The following comes from the same page as the image above. We're so evil. Let's hang our head in shame that this kind of hate still exists in America.
Here's another using not too subtle psychology to instill fear into people's hearts. Oh, gee there must be a lot of money behind this, as they even did a short video. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miULdI-qocg&feature=player_embedded
More Hate...This one was rejected from the Christian Congress for Traditional Values Fear mongering against Atheists. They hate anyone who isn't Christian (and many who are, but happen to be gay, or poor, or black or whatever!)
Here's one I like for a change. In response to the others... Oh please give us freedom from religion in America! And their counter response... Ah yes, the Defenders of the Faith? Would they happen to be like Jihadists or Knights Templar, like Breivik? Another one I like, so we don't get too depressed by endless Fear Mongering...
YUP! You better fear God or ELSE! If you're poor, it looks like God loves you a lot less... Now these people are really out there! Don't they know Jews run Israel?
Do you ever think you might be using the same methodology that Islamaphobes use to show that all Muslims are dangerous--which would put you in the same camp with the Templar? The examples you've strung together are so extreme I've never seen anything like them before in my part of the country (the Buckle of the Bible Belt), which would suggest they might not be that common. I don't know of any Christians who come close to those views. They're all non-violent, gay accepting, evolution believing, Muslim embracing folks who try to help the poor and outcasts of society. It's disturbing to us, as it must be to Muslims, to see the extent to which un-Christian right wing fanatics have made headway in leading people to believe they're Christians--and the only Christians.
If you're not Christian, you must be inferior! Gee, Hope for Change? Where have I heard THAT lie before? Oh, yeah from a Christian we elected. Got Tattoos? Better check it out with "Real Christian Central" to make sure you haven't offended any censors... A little Dutch Christianity in your face! Be WARNED DUTCH folk, you're not frightened enough! There are far right-wing groups in the Netherlands who are probably cheering what Breivik did.
