I wasn't sure where else to post this, but I've got something I'd like to get off my chest. I've been going to college on and off for years and there is something I would like to discuss. I absolutely hate the fact that everything is done on computers. I took tests on computers, I turned my homework in though a college website that, to me is a huge pain in the ass to learn how to use.
Not only is it inconvenient it has major issues! I really feel like people like me that have a limited knowledge on how to use computers are really being weeded out. I've been using computers since I was a child, and I am pretty average at using them for power points, writing papers, looking up information and so forth but still have a bitch of a time using them to turn in assignments.
I'm sure I'll eventually get the hang of it but I don't get why I can't just turn in paper copies of my homework instead of sending my teacher a fucking e-mail. There are many reasons this pisses me off, for one computers don't always work right. So let's say I stay up all night working on a paper and go to turn it in. Well if the college website is down for some reason I can't turn in my shit! That's just the beginning I once took a test for developmental math on a computer and it froze up on me during the test. So I had to go back and re take the test which was a huge pain in the ass!
I know I'm just crying about it, but I have talked to various counselors and teachers about these issues and none seem to give a damn about the various problems I have using their ridiculous system. This is why I hate college and also why it's taking me so long to get through it! Does anyone else out there have issues with this? Have you over come them? Or are you like me and still struggle to get stuff done because of this? I feel like they need a class that teaches students how to use the stupid college website before starting classes were it is required to use drop box submissions, and use a retarded website that hardly ever works right. Oh and is also needlessly confusing! Thoughts? Feelings? Anyone else out there feel my pain?

I went to college five years ago, and at the time a lot of the teachers i had were just starting to really put everything online, making the whole school paperless. A lot of people didn't mind at all and had no problems with what you just said.

Though a lot of people were really pissed because their are still those who can't afford internet at their homes because of so many others bills some of us had to cut the net for awhile tell we had the funds. That was just bullshit to me. It should not be a requirement for me to have internet at my home to get school work done.

The public schools here where i live are starting to do the same thing with elementary students. I've heard parents complain but it sounds as if nothing is really being done about it to stop it. Some parents who are in their late 30's and 40's who are not computer people don't understand why they should buy a computer and internet just so his/her child can fill out a few answers of homework.

Technology forces a lot of people to have to pay for things they don't want or need at all. The way of the times these days. Honestly i don't believe in homework at all. Everything should be taught in the classroom and no student of any age should go home and do more school. If you can't teach the student well enough in the classroom what makes you think forcing them to work on more material alone without a teacher will do any better at furthering their education?

I guess it just depends if you can afford internet or if your parents are paying for it for you so you can get through school. I'm sure everyone's life situation is different in that respect. It's just very irritating to get a paper or something done and instead of printing it off you have to go on-line and find the proper place to submit it. My first year back at school I had lots of assignments I didn't get turned in simply because I didn't understand how. I've figured out the website now, but I still think it's a huge pain in the ass and also that it screws over computer illiterate people. There should be an alternative way of turning in paper assignments. Especially if you have it done but don't know how to turn it in through a stupid website. That's my opinion anyway.

College is set up for people who have the means necessary to get through it. Or for the people with the drive for it. College really isn't what America perceives it as, where you can just get your diploma and get yourself in and pay your way through like it's nothing, 2 jobs and classes, it's not big deal. Trust fund bitch and his family are set for life, they just put all their time into their homework and school work, he gets the best grade without much a struggle. You, working hard has to cut back on classes and start paying back financial aid. You might get that degree, graduate top honors, but Trust Fund Bitch is already on his way to corpotate paradise with more cock suckers with no brains.
