Not sure smoking pot will cause schizophrenia, but apparently it has completely fucked your ability to spell.

From what you say about your parents, I would say you are very possibly genetically pre-disposed to develop psychological problems. Remember a lot of, if not most, disorders are completely physical in nature and causation.

From all you have said here I would agree with your doctor and suggest you leave drugs alone, especially psychedelics.

Could it possibly be the fact that they are two completely different chemicals and in two completely different classes of psychedelics.

Anything that messes with the brain's chemistry will have side effects in a small percentage of the population.

^this and the chronic sleep deprivation are probably not helping.

A person is very susceptible to mirroring the behaviors of his parents

Whether it is a psychologist, neurologist, psychiatrist, medication, or lifestyle change; do whatever it takes to keep yourself mentally stable

Explore your options, get a second opinion.

My friend had paranoid schisophrenia and weed, along with drugs and mustard seed, would trigger it

    no, it can't

some people just suddenly loose their inhibitions and they wait until they are high to start acting really crazy because they have an inherent need to do this (yes being ecstatic without outside intoxicants can actually be legitimately medicinal!), which is totally natural, need to stretch out and relax... because they go into getting stoned with the intention of acting crazy, they also go into it in situations that are not calm, this can cause some paranoia sometimes, especially if you are not among friends

i think people should loose inhibitions everywhere, and not just wait until they use drugs so it can be okay...

wildness lives in everyone, its just that our society gives some the impression that they must hold it in, but the truth is no one really cares, no danger comes from letting whats in you out, at any time, well we have to have some judgement, try not to hurt others or ourselves, but it can actually be very healing to just let that energy out

from my observation many wait until they are on drugs or drinking (drinking is still a drug) to do this, and thats not healthy, its better if you do it without this, just be free relaxed, its what friends are for, its what fun really means

when you do this kind of thing and really live a good happy life from it, you start to see what really matters, and you are more in the moment, and more people have a good time, then when you smoke if you choose to, i bet many mmore people would realize, its not making them crazy, it actually calms you down and puts you into a meditative state,

though things can definitely seem a lot more funny, as well, i just don't think the line is so fine, I think you could say what it does it amplify the personalities of those who use it, except its also known that, usually its harder to get angry after using cannabis, its easier to forgive, to be in the moment, which is interesting, it is a sacred plant with an interesting spirit, very wise, I don't think this means no fun can be had from it, but I think the healing aspects of the plant are not taken seriously enough, yes the laughing yogis have known for long, even humor can be healing!

healing can come from unexpected places, just using something in a slightly different way can transform it from a recreation or a toy into a great medicine, life is interesting like that

    much love!

and if you ever do have the misfortune of having a freak out on the ness, remember, its only temporary, its actually one of the safest substances known to humanity! Remember that all of us are different though, and if you repeatedly have bad reactions, maybe it is not something which agrees with your personal chemistry.

with time most people learn how to avoid freak outs with the ganj, and just become less prone to it happening, probably just through the body and mind becoming more familiar with it

its probably best described as a taoist process... which perhaps will never be fully expressed, one just has to get a feel for it, but if it can be express, hopefully it will, i think great healing can come from that, especially in the medical community.

yeah weed causes paranoia in lots of people. lots of people do not notice it or do not admit it because lots of people like to defend weed. weed makes everything enhanced. so if you have negative emotions even when not high they are enhanced. people forget that weed alters the way the brain works even when you are not high. it takes several months of not smoking for the receptors and brain chemistry of your brain to return to normal.

    Paranoia is not schizophrenia.

It sounds like you have some "psychotic" (as well as simply childish) tendencies.

    But not schizophrenic.

And no, weed won't cause it, simple show it to you.

There are scary parts of my personality that weed showed me. At the time I wished it hadn't. Now I'm glad it did.

It does sound like you might be better off not smoking, and concentrating on growing up a bit for now.

I'm not sure if this deserves positive or negative rep.

I followed the precedent that others seem to have set.

Heyy, schizophrenia can't really be "caused" or not. It's something a person is born with... However, marijuana, and any mind-altering thing, can trigger a schizophrenic episode by 30%.
Schizophrenia usually shows up in late teens/early 20's.
My cousin has schizoeffective disorde, also. She's here at my house now actually. Her and her mom came to the states (they live in France) to get her diagnosed. She smoked pot in her high school and early college years. (dropped out of college because of her anxiety attacks)
She was also raped, though, and moved to France when still a teenager- which can also both trigger schitzophrenia.

There is relation between Mj induced paranoia and schizophrenia specially if you already have a pre existing neurological condition or a positive family history of schizophrenia.

Schizophrenia is a complex condition, affecting approximately 1% of the general population. The exact causes of schizophrenia are still not well understood, however it is now thought that a number (5 to 10, or more) of different genes, as well as many different environmental influences, are responsible for an individual developing schizophrenia. Therefore schizophrenia is classified as a multifactorial syndrome. This means that schizophrenia can run in some families, although many people with schizophrenia do not have an affected relative.

There has been a study, led by Steven Laviolette at the University of Western Ontario in Canada, involved training rats to fear the scent of either almond or peppermint.
The scents were delivered to rats in a cage either with black-and-white striped walls or with black polka dots on a gray background.
One scent was accompanied by an electric shock to the rodents' feet, while the other scent was not.
At the same time, researchers experimented with the activity of the CB1 receptors in a certain region of the rats' brains. These cannabinoid receptors are activated by the main psychoactive component of marijuana, THC. In some rats, the scientists blocked CB1-receptor activity; in others, they used a marijuana-like drug to enhance it
When scientists blocked the CB1 receptors in a region called the basolateral amygdala — which is involved in the processing of fear and emotion — the rats that got strong electric shocks did not learn to fear the associated scent or the cage in which they received it. After getting shocked, they were just as happy as unaffected rats to explore the cage and smell the scent.
When rats were given a drug that enhanced cannabinoid-receptor activity, however, even receiving a minor shock was enough to cause them to freeze with fear when they were later exposed to the cage and its related scent. Without the marijuana-like drug, small shocks did not have the same effect

The findings suggest marijuana is actually enhancing a type of learning about fear, leading the brain to jump to conclusions about mild experiences involving particular places or things, and to perceive them as scarier and more strongly connected than they are.

This increased fear-based learning helps explain why stoners tend to see patterns in events that aren't real, such as conspiracies. (Of course, to be fair, the rats in this experiment were justifiably paranoid: they were being experimented on!)

Interestingly, the researchers also found that they could prevent the enhanced fear learning in rats given the marijuana-like drug by inactivating activity in a region called the prefrontal cortex before exposing them to the shocks. The prefrontal cortex is a higher-level brain area involved in executive functions like planning, decision-making and controlling responses and impulses. In humans, this could potentially explain why telling yourself or being told, "Chill out, you're just high," can help. (This may not work if the police actually are coming to arrest you.)

The researchers point out that both of the brain regions studied are implicated in the pathology of schizophrenia, and that understanding their interconnections could lead to better treatments for the disorder.

By previous studies we know there are abnormalities in both the amygdala and prefrontal cortex in patients who have schizophrenia, and we now know these same brain areas are critical to the effects of marijuana and other cannabinoid drugs on emotional processing.

    Hope this was of help.

Cannabis can contribute to schizophrenia in some individuals who are have a genetic pre-dispositon for it. So in a sense it can bring out the inevidable, but it has not been linked as a direct cause.
