whenever im at a party i seem to catch a buzz rather quickly and become really social. yet when i drink at home, it takes me forever to get drunk and when i finally get a good buzz, the beer is almost gone. i dont wanna come across as an alcoholic due to the fact i drink alone, yet i was wondering why it takes me forever to get drunk at home. does environment have anything to do with it or is it all in my head.
you might be drinking faster at parties, thus the alcohol is getting into your bloodstream quicker. if you drink alone at home your probably just relaxing and sipping on a beer rather slowly but at parties your poundin them. or shotgunning.. or doing beer bongs lol
you are socializing and need to use your brain. thats why you feel drunk.. You dont use your brain @home. We can tell, from this post alone..
This is true. Most people feel the effects of alcohol sooner in a social setting. The stimulation of the setting enhances the effects of alcohol. Hence the lowering of inhibitions.
It's called group intoxication, similar to group hysteria. It occurs because of the sub-concious need of the group to act in unison. Have you ever noticed how huge flocks of birds seem to turn and dart about with left turns and right turns and dives, etc. all in perfect formation with perfect timing?
I feel the opposite of you i feel drunk quicker at home then at parties. I think its the fact at home i relax and kick and want to feel the full effect of just a few beers. Well parties are i came there to rage so i do drink faster and more! plus i think i move around alot at parties so i burn thru alcohol fast.
It's ridiculously hard for me to get drunk period, but yeah I understand where you're coming from. It always seem like I feel alcohol more at parties than at home, but maybe that's because it's the whole atmosphere of revelry, as someone said before it's the whole group conciousness thing. Your mind has more to do with the effects drugs have on you than most people realize.
This may seem pretty farfetched, but perhaps when you are moving around more (like many do in party settings) the alcohol is circulating through your bloodstream at a higher rate because of your increased heart rate.
Environment and atmosphere add to the mood - drinking alone can make one depressed and the search for answers do not lie at the bottom of a glass whereas 'Partying' has a different tone. The lights, the music the people the ambiance is more of a 'Get up and dance' philosopy - the booze flows the inhibitions go and the Spirits rise ....... methinks
