Another drop is just one more tear stain on my soul. For you angels sing, and Gods ride their thunders through the heavens, But I am left with the consequences. You leave your marks upon my neck, But the damage is what, You have left inside of me. The constant pain and misery. Cant you see the damage you have done? You said you would always protect me, But can you shield me from yourself? You brought me into this world, yet it is you who will take me out. You say you cannot help the bottomless pit of need enveloping your reason, But I cannot help the blood on my pillow every night, the tears I cry are nothing to you. I will always love you, but I can never forgive you. You have taken fom me my childhood. I have a mother and you have a daughter, but we are not family anymore. You gave me up when you took into your hands a potion, far more important to you than me. I can never escape the path You have forced me to walk. I shall walk this path, not for you, But for me. I am walking for the endless bleeding, the rivers I have cried In your honour, and Most of all I am walking to my freedom.
I think it's quite a poem. it's deep. "You brought me into this world, yet it is you who will take me out." is that irony? or unavoidable fate?
Hmm to tell you the truth it was meant to be irony, but It can certainly be taken up as unavoidable faith Thanks for your comments, it was an emotional poem to write.
I think it's really clear thatit was emotional to write: there's a lot of emotion behind the words. As I read it, it seems like there's defenitely a story behind it. Is it something you'd talk about, or rather express by a poem?
Yeah well I talk about it, but I do tend to express my emotions about it in poetry. Its about my experiences with alcoholicism
wow, goes deep indeed. I see...."You gave me up when you took into your hands a potion, far more important to you than me." Do you really see it as part of the healing process, expressing yourself by means of art (such as poetry) and talking about it?
Yeah I do, but as you can tell by the negitivity of the poem Im not really there yet, But I am hopefull for me, as the end of the poem shows.
maybe it has nothing to do with this subject of family relations/alcoholism, but here's a songtext/poem about christian life...had some similarities...like going through the fire etc. We will go home ( ‘In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.’ - John 14 : 2 ) We are all on a journey And the journey is life A road unpredictable Never foreseen But if we put our trust in Christ Jesus He’ll guide us He’ll give us a purpose And wash our souls clean. We will go home (8x) We’ll go over high mountains And go through deep valleys We’ll go through the waters Of river and sea We will journey through forests And journey through wastelands And our eyes will see things That no man yet has seen. We will go home (8x) It won’t be without troubles We’ll go through the fire But the Spirit will be In our hearts all the time We will meet Him in heaven On Him we’re depending We are the branches And he is the vine. We will go home (8x)
Its certainly very strong if you are a strong beleiver, Im not personally so It doesnt have as strong a meaning to me, but I can see it is emtional

It's great if a poem is good ofcourse, but I tend to look for the emotion in it, and the story behind the words, the life, the person behind it.
