Whether they be dark hard drug movies or your favorite stoner or drug using comedians of past or present, what movies, and which ones seemed like load of total crap to you?

alot of them depend too on the situation, character and demographic portrayed- I mean in a movie like Rush you have Jason Patric who battles addiction while working for the cops, and while the movie details strike me as unrealistic, Jason Patric is just an exceptional performer.

or a movie with Ally Sheedy called High Art on heroin addiction with really studies the characters from a psychological standpoint instead of a strictly drug related standpoint which I find refreshing and extremely important.

Reqiuem for a dream for me was worthwhile for Ellen Burstyn and Jennifer Connelly's roles- and I'm ashamed to say I have not ready Hubert Selby Jr.'s books yet and normally I'm a stickler for reading the book first

My three last favorties are without a doubt Drugstore Cowboy, Another Day In Paradise (how did both melanie griffith and james woods and larry clark not get oscars for that? OH, that's right, because it's a REALISTIC movie), and of course, the Epic amalgamation- Croneneberg and Burroughs minds melded into the Criterion Collection's Epic NAKED LUNCH!!!

Comments? And please add your favorites too!

i believe i have read naked lunch, or part of it....i had some book from William Burroughs collection, but i was bored with it. I like drug books, my favorite has to be Tweak: Growing up on Methamphetamine by Nic Sheff, he is so real with it...brought me back to my days of copping and shooting dope....

movies....requiem for a dream, fear and loathing in las vegas (duh), traffic, party animal, and um, uh, hell there was another one....

Easy Rider. Me and My 2 best mates found our destinies in that movie:)

And then Aerotroopers, but it's only about drugs if you're high. If that makes any sense. I'd easily rate it as the worst movie ever made.

Spun is sort of a cheesy Requieum for a Dream knock off movie about Meth. Worth downloading if you're bored it's got a pretty decent cast in it.

Brittany Murphy, John Leguizamo, Mickey Rourke

WOW- you know Bad Lt.- I don't know how to spell it but the orig. Harvey Keitel version, that and Dangerous Games were both great drug movies that tackled very esoteric questions at the same time.

It's not an all out "drug" movie- but Tart, with Dominique Swain and adorable Bijou Phillips play girl who go to an upscale Manhattan Catholic High School - it deals somewhat with cocaine but its; a must watch in generl anyway, kinda like Larry Clark's Bully. There is a french movie called Enter the Void, directed by Gaspar Noe and pts of it are supposed to be filmed as if you are experiencing the acid trip first hand with the narrorator but frankly its disappointing.

I agree, Although I adored Brittany Murphy, Spun was not my favorite. I did think Candy With Heath Ledger & Cornnie Abbish was reasonably good
