Now I warn you this is purely all hypothetical as there are MUCH more efficient, cheaper, safer, and easier methods of getting nitrous. You probably don't want to do this. But as I am becoming more interested in chemistry I'm learning more about my favorite drugs. Here's a synth I wrote up after gathering a bunch of info Text-upload.com link to clean up post. This could (in theory) be completed with a simple chemistry setup and the chemicals are pretty easy to get a hold of. Only problem is the danger of the anhydrous ammonia and also possible impurities in the final product. Will it work? Obviously this is really inefficient as I said but it's just an idea. The only parts I am unsure about are reactions involving ammonia and water as the ammonia might absorb into the water before it actually reacting??
nitrous is made from the gas exchange from heating Ammonium nitrate , you can not do this at home. In fact you cant get enough pure Ammonium nitrate to do it anyway.. Thank Timothy McVeigh..
Ammonium Nitrate is available in my area by the ton for fairly cheap price as a farm fertilizer, however, if you do not have a farm and are known as having a farm, buying Ammonium Nitrate in anything larger than bags of fertilizer are often reported to local police becasue of it's use in making ammonia in meth prodution since anhydrous ammonia is usually stored in containers with alarms and cameras, since so many people have stolen it in the area..If you know a big row crop farmer who is "cool" they can help you get 5-10 gallons or as much as you want of anhydorus ammonia..This is not common unless you know the person very well..lol..
