I feel that the US economy is hurting itself immensely. This is due to the fact that we are over producing simple items that have no real value in a worldy market. We are too involved with our desires and material objects that are cheap, sad mediums for lives values to be sucked away. The production of these sub-par products that are being pumped out by the millions, have no value in a vaster market.
We need to step back to when we took quality and pride as a trademark, instead of the trademark as the quality basis.

An uninformed consumer who creates demand for unmitigated crap will ensure that manufacturing capacity is frittered away producing the garbage that has been shown to sell. Phrasing it as anything but us fucking ourselves seems based on a premise of deflecting responsibility- which I can accept was not your intent- but until a dialog can be sustained that frames the problem correctly- people willfully making uninformed, short-sighted, and otherwise stupid choices then the chances that a solution can be arrived at that will rectify the situation are nil.

It begins by folks understanding that commercials and advertisements are out and out deceptions to the extent that the laws allow- intended to induce wasteful spending because this economy that you rightfully decry works splendidly for those who use it for its intended purpose- to further concentrate wealth among the richest 5% of the population. The best solution is NOT changing the laws because those in charge of that have a vested interest in the status quo and will most likely only go through the motions of reform to fool and placate us while ensuring that the economy remains a predatory tool to induce the insect who is the consumer to part company with what little he/she has.... for JUNK.

OMFG Catch the fuck up, this is so basic, I'm afraid it's gone a little beyond this. Watch a good amount of Max Keiser.
