voivod?? you see more and more these metal bands covering pink floyd material. yet, I would not consider pink floyd anywhere near metal or hard rock.... I think the closest they ever got to metal was the nile song, from more. and maybe run like hell, I guess. its kinda interesting to hear a metal version, or anybody else's version of pink floyd's astronomy domine. http://youtube.com/watch?v=zoZSsL9yVb8 you get a few covers over the years, but not alot..... I know jesus and mary chain did vegetable man..... and the smashing pumpkins did terrapin, but thats syd solo... and then korn does another brick in the wall... and fred durst does wish you were here, blagh.
I'm not into Pink Floyd... nor Voivod. My little brother wanted to check out Voivod once, was really hyped up about it, so I brought him a hired copy of 'War and pain' and he hated it.
korn covering another brick in the wall was awful. In fact, I just heard it last night on one of those music channels on cable. I had to turn it off halfway through, just like the other time I heard it
Usually I would be enraged if any metal band were to cover a Pink Floyd song.. but you know what, Astronomy Domine would actually sound really good as a metal song. I didn't know Voivod covered it..
Ok, there is a new metal cover of PF. High Hopes by Aesthetic Empathy. Give it a try Cheers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYW2QWFLYiE
I listened to that album 20 years ago. Never really liked it that much, but I listened to it a few times because in those days music was less accessible so people had smaller record collections (unless you were a DJ or an independent record shop owner). I rented it from a library in Glasgow and recorded it to a C90 Memorex magnetic tape cassette.
