Last Saturday my daughter woke up at night and has been itching her hands ever since then. It happens only at night, and they feel hot and they have little bumps that are not so pronounced. During the day they are normal with only a tiny feeling of the bumps but barely. At night though she wakes up(not crying) but just really annoyed with her itchy palms. Also the bottom of her feet are feeling kind of itchy as well. We have done nothing different when it comes to detergent (natural detergent), and I have put Calamine and tea tree on them to no avail. Im debating if I should take her to a pediatrician to get it checked out. It doesnt seem to bother her very much, but it is just odd.
Hmm sound like hand & mouth. Is she in a daycare setting?? Its a type of contagious virus that runs rampant in daycare. It usually affects only the hands, mouth and feet. I would definantly take her to have it looked at, but I don't think if it is hand and mouth that they can do anything about it. I worked at a daycare years ago before my son was born and half the kids there got it and a few of the staff too. I had never heard of it before, and have never heard anything about it since, but the symptoms you describe sound just like it. I hope this helps.
Thanks busmama. Is there any other symptoms to hand and mouth? She is with me all day but she does visit other kids.
as far as I know about it it is a type of viral skin infection passed hand to hand by children. It doesn't leave any lasting affects and ther is nothing to do to stop it, but a DR can give you something to help with the itching and stop the spread. the only symptoms are itchy bumpy hands, feet and mouth. It can get bad if untreated, and can get into the mouth and make eating difficult.
busmama is right, sounds just like hand foot and mouth. I think once you get it you're immune, but it can get real bad if it's not treated. When I was younger and my brother and little cousins were in pre-school they all got it, and then my mom's cousin (mother of my little cousins) got it too, and it got so bad she was litterally crawling because it hurt too bad to walk. definatly see a doctor!
scabies usually starts around the waist underarm and groin area, and itches horribly all day and night. I hope it gets better, let us know how it turns out!
Today they are red, and are just a little bit puffy. They still have that heat coming off them. I am going to the pediatrician and have them looked at. Thanks Mamas
I hope your daughter feels better, Cosmic. Hopefully her pediatrician can do something for the itching.
Scabies didn't affect my waist, underarms, or groin at all, it was mostly my hands, and worst at night OMG... Scabies are awful - your kid needs some Elimite cream stat!
It is a form of hydrosis (sp), a sort of Eczema from the weather. They gave me some special non steroid cream, and it should do the trick. Thanks Mama's!
