"The government is dumbing down schools" says former Director of Education

According to a woman who used to work for the United States government, the government officials who operate the United States education system, as well as other education systems, are deliberately dumbing down today's youth. I know that they do this to a certain extent in order to create docile workers, which is what school is basically for, creating a work force. However, I'm not sure it's to the extent that the woman is talking about. What do you guys think?

The Underground History of American Education

 

Training everyone the 'what' and not the 'how' of ones thinking ability. The system is like everything else in the country, our way or the highway. Every grade i remember going through from 1st grade, all the way to college, was always based around how much i could remember. If you disagree with the teacher saying "i don't believe this is right" the teacher will always throw back at you, no this is how it is, this is the answer. Teachers send home 12 year old kids two or three pieces of paper to memorize for tomorrows quiz. Why should any child be forced to memorize a bunch of nonsense after being in a school for 7 to 8 hours? The system is not setup to teach you to think outside the box. Look at the country now, everyone has gone through this systems education, and it doesn't provide real life experience to anything. So you walk out $10,000 to $45,000 in debt based off a bunch off memorized facts? Why would anyone think this way of thinking will work in the long run?

The school system is part of the system that why some hippies drop out of school and will not go to school no matter what.

Why is this considered new news to some people. We have been screaming about this since the 60s.

 

Yea the government is dumbing down our children which is why I chose home schooling for my son.

And accept any crap the news feeds them..

 

Than be a classic hippie and go live in the forest an take your TV and radio that is propaganda and put it in the trash. Do not buy any movies and do not send your kid to school as that is part of want the system wants you to believe.

And problem solved. Or reform the system get all media,schools,TV, movies,radio and propaganda so on out of the government and business hands and into non profit run by the people
