Seriously, screw them. The only thing they seem to be good for is pissing me off. I am a vegetarian... but FUCK PETA. PETA makes me sick with their extremist attitudes and their offensive propaganda. From "Holocaust on your plate" to "Your Mommy is a MURDERER" just about every campaign they launch makes me want to eat a steak out of spite. Not only that, but they financially support the terrorist organisation Animal Liberation Front, you know, the guys who firebomb family farms and release domestic animals into the wild where they die. Fuck em, they give vegetarians a bad name. I own guns, I am about to move to Colorado to go to gunsmithing school, in the future, I would like to own my own gunsmith business... but FUCK the NRA. All the NRA really is is a republican vote-grabber and magazine salesman, they scare gun owners into voting republican and charge you $35 a year for the privelidge of being practically ordered at gunpoint who to vote for. Guess what you redneck motherfuckers, gun control isn't the only thing I vote on, so fuck off. Besides, Charleton Heston was a lousy actor and the NRA magazines suck. Fuck em, I don't need their bullshit in my life. Those are the two that piss me off the most, and the funny thing is that they would want me as a member since I share their core values. But the thing is, these shills aren't about their core values at all, so fuck em, the bastards make me sick. What special interest groups piss you off?
"soylent green is people!" sorry, having a heston flashback. seemed to kinda flow with the peta/nra thing. as for groups, perhaps the AARP, at least until i'm old enough to join.
heh, I'm reminded of that scene in trainspotting "For a vegetarian, you're a hell of a shot" or something to that effect. Same, same here. I don't plan on being a gunsmith but I believe it's ok to own a gun for many different reasons. The thing has yet to see the light of day and I hope it never will, but it's there for a reason. PETA pissed me off as well. I used to like them. The NRA? never a member but dad was, until the sent him an envelope peppered with buckshot. AARP is for members who fall above a certain wealth mark. Local groups I think are the way to go, until of course, they form that core group who decides they will run everything their way. Just makes it easier to tell them to stuff it when they're smaller.
I wouldn't doubt it if Peta was funded by neocons. I love animals as much as anyone, but Peta just doesn't do them any favors with their loopy rhetoric. While I think trapping is cruel, hunting is often NECESSARY, especially when exotic animals go wild and destroy the habitats of endangered species. (That would be a good movie, a peta activist chasing a hunter who is chasing a wild animal that is destroying the habitats of other animals.)
Or perhaps some of the Peta activists were actually working for a large polluting coorperation that was trying to make enviromentalists look bad, not realizing the hunter himself was an enviromentalist. (I actually feel like the above is a true story. )
